About ReBEC

The Brazilian Clinical Trials Registry (ReBEC) is publicly owned and managed by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), a non-profit governmental research organization. The result of a joint effort with the Ministry of Health (DECIT/MS) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), ReBEC increases the effectiveness of clinical trial efforts by making studies publicly available, thereby reducing publication bias. In this way, ReBEC becomes an important source of information for patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, companies, and research centers, fostering greater interaction and international integration.

There is no cost for any registration. ReBEC's mandatory fields meet the minimum dataset required by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Following review and upon publication of the study on the ReBEC website, the study receives a unique registration number. Responsibility for registration and study information lies with the sponsor. Trial data will not be removed once published. All details of studies registered with ReBEC are available to the public.

ReBEC's support mechanisms serve as a benchmark by offering the generative artificial intelligence ReBEC@, alongside human interaction channels. ReBEC@ is the world's first artificial intelligence for clinical research registration, capable of answering questions regarding documents and submission deadlines, study types, approval rules, and information on how to become a research volunteer. Rebec@ is connected to a learning base continuously updated on regulations and good clinical research practices, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
