Anvisa Signs Memorandum of Understanding with South Korea to Expand Technical Cooperation

Among the planned actions is regulatory harmonization aimed at implementing regulatory systems for cosmetics.

As part of the Brazilian government's mission to South Korea, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this Monday (February 23) with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea.

The agreement addresses regulatory cooperation on health-related products and the updating of the MoU signed in 2014 between the two agencies. Among the planned actions are technical exchange and regulatory harmonization aimed at implementing regulatory systems for cosmetics and mutual cooperation to facilitate the use of regulatory confidence mechanisms (reliance).

In addition, there are plans to promote the exchange of information on policies, guidelines and standards, laboratory tests, pre-market evaluation, marketing authorization (registration), post-market surveillance, inspection, good manufacturing practices and evaluation of clinical trials.

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is part of the agenda of the official Brazilian mission to Asia and reinforces the strategic partnership between Brazil and South Korea, with the potential to expand technological exchange, stimulate innovation and strengthen regulatory cooperation.

Anvisa also signed a second memorandum, which brings together the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and the Korea Rural Development Administration. The agreement establishes a cooperation framework focused on the registration, evaluation and management of pesticides and bio-inputs, as well as the exchange of information and the development of joint research. The sharing of technical data, exchange of experts, training programs, and the holding of workshops and joint scientific projects are some of the planned actions.
