PRIORITY SERVICES

The Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (ReBEC) presents the new fast tracks for clinical research and observational studies on INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AND TRADITIONAL COMMUNITIES and on NEGLECTED TROPICAL DISEASES (NTDs). Fast-track can reduce the normal approval period for clinical trials to less than 48 hours, if the documentation, information and any mandatory changes requested are provided by the registrant.

The already existing fast-tracks and the attendance to other studies will not be interrupted. Priority care is granted with a view to accelerating clinical research in epidemiological emergency situations and/or studies with the potential to reduce socioeconomic inequalities, keeping the perspective aligned with the forefront of ethics and transparency, diplomacy in health, scientific collaboration and diversity and specificities of recruitment and health care.

FAST-TRACKS IN OPERATION:

I - Indigenous Peoples, Traditional Communities, Human Migration and Refugee Movements – clinical research and observational studies dedicated to or preferably addressing traditional communities (quilombola, caiçara, faxinalense, among others), Indigenous peoples (within or outside legally demarcated territories), and refugee groups, taking into account the specificities established by regulation, on a case-by-case basis.

II - Neglected Tropical Diseases – Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Leishmaniasis, Schistosomiasis, Scabies, Chagas disease, Intestinal parasitoses, Viral hepatitis, Trachoma, Onchocerciasis, Human rabies transmitted by dogs.

III - National and International Public Health Emergencies – Mpox, Covid-19.

IV - Arboviruses – Zika, Dengue, Chikungunya, Malaria, Yellow fever.

4. A reviewer will respond to you. Choose the service modality: chat, audio recordings or voice call by appointment.
5. Your form will be proofread in both languages. Follow the remaining guidelines to finalize the approval.

U.S. supply chains with connections to Xinjiang and the Chinese military are heavily regulated — just not for pharmaceuticals.

U.S. sanctions on Chinese companies operating in Xinjiang or with the Chinese military have reshaped supply chains from agriculture to technology. It’s a different story for the pharmaceutical industry. 

For multinational drugmakers with R&D investments and human trials running at Chinese hospitals, there is no regulation prohibiting drug development or clinical testing in a region otherwise subject to a range of existing U.S. sanctions and restrictions.

Data put together by The Wire China and WireScreen from ClinicalTrials.gov, a medical trial database maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, shows that multinational companies have for years actively been sponsoring medical trials taking place in Xinjiang and at People’s Liberation Army-affiliated sites.

The true scope of this testing is difficult to measure. ClinicalTrials.gov requires registered trials to conform to regulations from regional authorities, but some trials only list the city where the test is held, not the hospital. PLA hospitals also do not always openly identify their military affiliation. China has 165 PLA hospitals across each of its provinces, according to WireScreen data.

For multinational pharmaceutical firms, these sites may just be one of dozens of worldwide locations testing a drug. Bill signed in São Paulo strengthens the Health Economic-Industrial Complex and promotes national sovereignty in the development of technologies and diagnostic tests

On Friday (10), the Unified Health System (SUS) achieved a new milestone for the National Policy on Cancer Prevention and Control. Signed into law by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Minister Alexandre Padilha in São Paulo, Bill No. 125/2025 aims to modernize the system and ensure access to innovations such as advanced therapies, vaccines, and new diagnostic tests.

In practice, the new regulations expand the national capacity for development, research, production, distribution, and access to cancer vaccines, with a focus on universal access and equity within the SUS, through the promotion of research, domestic production, and international collaboration.

During the ceremony in São Paulo, on an inaugural visit to the Center for Teaching, Simulation, and Innovation (Cesin) at the Heart Institute (InCor), at the Hospital das Clínicas of the USP School of Medicine, the president highlighted the government’s commitment to the quality of public healthcare.

Initiative aims to improve quality and strengthen the integration and impact of clinical studies in the Americas

The Pan American Health Organization has launched the Clinical Trials Accelerator, an initiative aimed at strengthening clinical research in the Americas. The goal is to improve the quality, expand the scale, and increase the impact of studies, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, where trials still face challenges such as fragmentation and poor coordination.

Clinical trials are essential for the development of new therapies and for ensuring the safety and efficacy of health interventions. However, the lack of robust multicenter studies in the region hinders the production of consistent evidence to address public health issues.

Strategies for integration and efficiency
The Accelerator proposes the use of innovative tools to optimize all stages of research, from study design to data analysis, including solutions based on artificial intelligence. The initiative also aims to strengthen collaboration between countries and encourage the conduct of multicenter clinical trials.

Another key focus is the harmonization of regulatory processes. Standardizing contracts and administrative requirements should reduce delays, prevent duplication, and facilitate the conduct of research in a more agile manner, without compromising ethical and quality standards.

Healthtech presents a clinical system that promises to generate scientific evidence and enhance prescription safety in Brazil

The goal is to fill a structural gap in the sector: the lack of clinical infrastructure capable of generating consistent scientific data from medical practice.

The system, classified as a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS), integrates tools for clinical decision support, patient monitoring, and data structuring into formats compatible with scientific information. The solution serves various market stakeholders, including patient associations, pharmaceutical companies, clinics, and prescribing physicians.

For associations, the platform offers standardized patient monitoring with data collection at specific milestones—such as D7, D21, D30, D60, D90—as well as validated scales and adverse event tracking.  California patients living with rare diseases and chronic conditions are enrolled into new clinical trials every day – not as a last resort, but as a pathway to better treatment and hope. Yet a bill moving through Sacramento could quietly put that progress at risk.

Assembly Bill (AB) 1776 would expand our state’s antitrust authority, increasing scrutiny over business practices and collaborations deemed “anticompetitive.” While well-intentioned, the bill overlooks a critical reality: medical innovation depends on collaboration. Researchers, manufacturers, and health systems must work together to develop and deliver new treatments – and clinical trials are where that collaboration comes to life for patients.

I was diagnosed with diabetes in 1994. Back then, managing the disease looked very different. It meant finger pricks throughout the day, strict routines, constant vigilance, and the ever-present fear of complications. Smart devices did not exist to monitor my glucose levels in real-time, and far fewer tools to help patients stay in control.

But today, I am part of a clinical trial using advanced glucose monitoring and insulin pump technology that communicate with each other and adjust in real time.
