    A convenience sample was used, composed of patients with VADS tuberculosis and who were followed up at the Otorhinolaryngology outpatient clinic of INI / FIOCRUZ. The following phonoaudiological and otorhinolaryngological evaluations were performed: otorhinolaryngological evaluation, speech-language anamnesis, vocal auditory perceptual evaluation, computerized acoustic evaluation of vocal pattern, orofacial myofunctional evaluation and evaluation, voice quality of life evaluation. For patients with diagnostic confirmation or who have already started treatment for TB, speech therapy intervention is based on guidelines on care, vocal hygiene, awareness and proprioception measures to avoid harmful compensatory mechanisms and provide the best possible way of adapting to functional functional difficulties by mucosal lesions. After termination of the drug treatment for TB, the patients are reassessed by speech therapy and otorhinolaryngology. If they continue to present functional alterations related to vocal quality and breathing patterns, swallowing chewing or speaking, patients are submitted to individualized speech therapy intervention, according to their anatomy and physiology, as well as the type and location of the lesions. The speech therapy was performed at intervals of no more than one month. All patients who started speech therapy were reassessed at three-month intervals after speech therapy and speech therapy and otorhinolaryngology.
17 patients represent the intervention group, who did speech therapy and 13 represent the control group, who only performed the drug treatment without speech therapy.

    Utilizada uma amostra de conveniência, composta por pacientes com tuberculose das VADS e que sejam acompanhados no ambulatório de Otorrinolaringologia do INI/FIOCRUZ. Realizadas as seguintes avaliações fonoaudiológicas e otorrinolaringológicas: avaliação otorrinolaringológica, anamnese fonoaudiológica, avaliação perceptiva auditiva vocal, avaliação acústica computadorizada do padrão vocal, avaliação e exame clínico miofuncional orofacial, avaliação de qualidade de vida em voz. Para os pacientes com confirmação diagnóstica ou que já tiveram iniciado tratamento para TB, a intervenção fonoaudiológica se baseia em orientações sobre cuidados, higiene vocal, medidas de conscientização e propriocepção para evitar mecanismos compensatórios nocivos e propiciar a melhor forma possível de adaptação às dificuldades orgânicas funcionais impostas pelas lesões mucosas. Após término do tratamento medicamentoso para TB, os pacientes são reavaliados pela fonoaudiologia e otorrinolaringologia. Caso continuem apresentando alterações funcionais relacionadas à qualidade vocal e aos padrões de respiração, mastigação deglutição ou fala, os pacientes são submetidos à intervenção fonoterápica individualizada, de acordo com a sua anatomia e fisiologia, assim como o tipo e localização das lesões. A fonoterapia foi realizada em intervalos de no máximo um mês. Todos os pacientes que iniciaram fonoterapia, foram reavaliados em intervalos de três meses após o início da mesma pela fonoaudiologia e otorrinolaringologia.
17 pacientes representam o grupo de intervenção, os quais fizeram fonoterapia e 13 representam o grupo controle, os quais só realizaram o tratamento medicamentoso sem fonoterapia.
