  This is a pilot study of a clinical trial whose sample will be composed of 15 individuals (5 with mild obstructive sleep apnea, 5 with moderate obstructive sleep apnea, and 5 with severe obstructive sleep apnea according to polysomnography) from the Sleep Outpatient Clinic of the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the University Hospital Gaffrèe e Guinle with complaints of sleep disturbance. The study participants will be submitted to botulin toxin injection in the musculature masticatory and pharyngeal constrictor, under local anesthesia, at the hospital. Then, 3 to 5 units of botulin toxin will be infiltrated into the following muscles: palatopharyngeal, masseter, and the distal portion of the lateral pterygoid, bilaterally. During the follow-up the patients will be submitted through clinical evaluations. In this way, the patients themselves will be controlled, in the pre and post-procedure.

  Trata-se de um estudo piloto de um ensaio clínico cuja amostra será composta de 15 indivíduos (5 com apneia obstrutiva do sono leve, 5 com apneia obstrutiva do sono moderada e 5 com apneia obstrutiva do sono acentuada, segundo a polissonografia tipo I) do ambulatório de Sono do serviço de Otorrinolaringologia do Hospital Universitário Gafrèe e Guinle com queixas de distúrbios do sono. Os participantes do estudo serão submetidos a injeção de toxina botulínica na musculatura mastigatória e constritora da faringe, sob anestesia local, no hospital. Serão infiltradas 3 a 5 unidades de toxina botulínica nos músculos palatofaríngeo, masseter e porção distal do pterigóideo lateral, bilateralmente. Os participantes serão acompanhados durante o período de tratamento. Dessa forma, os próprios pacientes serão controles, na comparação pré e pós procedimento.

  Age equal to or greater than 18 years old up to 60 years old; both genders; with a diagnosis of mild or moderate or severe obstructive sleep apnea gravity; body mass index<32; tonsils with grade I or II; the presence of Modified Mallampati I or II
