  Control group: 10 participants received instructions on oral hygiene and health, prophylaxis or scaling of tartar. Intervention group: 11 participants received instruction on oral hygiene and health, prophylaxis or scaling of tartar, 10 sessions of auricular acupuncture and one session per week for needle exchange.

  Presentation of the expected outcome is the reduction of the degree of gingivitis registered in the initial examination by calculating the Gingival Bleeding Index. The results of the evaluation were as follows: 1-without bleeding, 2-gingival inflammation DISCRETE (1 to 10% bleeding faces), 3-Gingival inflammation MODERATE (11 to 25% bleeding faces), 4-gingival inflammation SEVERE (from 26 to 50% of faces with bleeding), 5- SEVERE gingival inflammation (from 51 to 75% bleeding faces) and 6- SEVERE gingival inflammation (Above 75% bleeding faces).

  Apresentação do desfecho esperado é a redução do grau de gengivite registrado no exame inicial através do cálculo do Índice de Sangramento gengival. Os escores utilizados na avaliação foram: 1- sem sangramento, 2-inflamação gengival DISCRETA (De 1 a 10% de faces com sangramento), 3-Inflamação gengival MODERADA (De 11 a 25% de faces com sangramento), 4-Inflamação gengival SEVERA (de 26 a 50% de faces com sangramento), 5- Inflamação gengival SEVERA (De 51 a 75% de faces com sangramento) e 6- Inflamação gengival SEVERA (Acima de 75% de faces com sangramento).
