  The study design will be a crossover randomized clinical trial, with 45 individuals aged 18 to 60 years, of both sexes, randomized by draw and arranged in two groups: intervention group (n=22) and control group (n= 23). The application of phototherapy will be performed in six points of the quadriceps femoris muscles with the participants blindfolded. After seven days the procedures will be repeated. The first group will receive phototherapy in the first session and placebo in the second session, while the second group will be subjected to the opposite.

  O delineamento do estudo será do tipo ensaio clínico randomizado cruzado, com 45 indivíduos com idades de 18 a 60 anos, de ambos os sexos, randomizados por sorteio e dispostos em dois grupos: Grupo intervenção (n=22) e grupo controle (n=23). A aplicação da fototerapia será realizada em seis pontos dos músculos do quadríceps femoral com os participantes vendados. Após sete dias os procedimentos serão repetidos. O primeiro grupo irá receber fototerapia na primeira sessão e placebo na segunda sessão, enquanto o segundo grupo será submetido ao oposto.

  The study started with ten volunteers who met all the inclusion criteria and signed an informed consent form. However, one subject from the control group and two from the phototherapy group were not analyzed because they did not attend the second session. Thus, the final sample size for the primary outcome was nine subjects in the control group and eight subjects in the phototherapy group.

  3 patients had hematoma due to venipuncture and 1 patient had dizziness after blood collection. All occurrences were quickly stabilized without causing any risk to the health of the participants. No other adverse events were observed or reported.

  There was no significant difference in time to fatigue in the phototherapy group compared to the control group (GF: 23.03 ± 5.45 vs. GC: 20.44 ± 3.81; p > 0.05). On the other hand, the gains in the number of repetitions were significant in the phototherapy group in relation to the control group (GF: 16.50 ± 3.74 vs. GC: 12.22 ± 4.02; p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the operated versus non-operated leg ratio in the modified SEBT in the phototherapy group compared to the control group (GF: 100.63 ± 8.19 vs. GC: 101.38 ± 3.58; p > 0.05 ). There was no significant difference in CK concentration in the phototherapy group compared to the control group (GFpre: 206.38 ± 103.22 and GFpost: 210.00 ± 101.50 vs. GCpre: 428.89 ± 303.11 and GCpost: 428.89 ± 303.11 and GCpost: 428.89 ± 297.83; p > 0.05). No significant difference was observed in the post-exercise BORG scale in the phototherapy group compared to the control group (GF: 6.00 ± 2.39 vs. GC: 6.67 ± 1.32; p > 0.05).

  The acute effects of phototherapy on muscle endurance in patients in the late postoperative period of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction were evaluated. Ten subjects were randomized into a control group (CG) and a phototherapy group (PG). The first group received phototherapy in six points of the quadriceps femoris muscles bilaterally in the first session and placebo in the second, while the second group was submitted to the opposite. Participants were evaluated by endurance test, modified Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT), creatine kinase (CK) analysis, BORG perceived exertion scale, and 1 repetition maximum test (1RM). For statistical analysis, Student's t test was used for quantitative variables and two-way ANOVA for comparison between pre and post placebo or phototherapy groups. There was an increase in the number of maximum repetitions (PG: 16.50 ± 3.74 vs. CG: 12.22 ± 4.02; p < 0.05). No increase was observed in placebo time (PG: 23.03 ± 5.45 vs. CG: 20.44 ± 3.81; p > 0.05) and in SEBT (PG: 100.63 ± 8.19 vs. CG: 101.38 ± 3.58; p > 0.05). CK analysis also did not show better results (PGpre: 206.38 ± 103.22 and PGpost: 210.00 ± 101.50 vs. CGpre: 428.89 ± 303.11 and CGpost: 428.89 ± 297.83 ; p > 0.05). These findings indicate that phototherapy is capable of improving endurance in this population.

  Avaliou-se os efeitos agudos da fototerapia na Endurance muscular em pacientes no pós-operatório tardio de reconstrução do ligamento cruzado anterior (LCA). Dez indivíduos foram randomizados em grupo controle (GC) e grupo fototerapia (GF). O primeiro grupo recebeu fototerapia em seis pontos dos músculos do quadríceps femoral bilateralmente na primeira sessão e placebo na segunda, enquanto o segundo grupo foi submetido ao oposto. Os participantes foram avaliados pelo teste de endurance, Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) modificado, análise de creatina kinase (CK) escala de esforço percebido de BORG e teste de 1 repetição máxima (1RM). Para análise estatística foram utilizados o teste T de Student para variáveis quantitativas e a ANOVA de duas vias para comparação entre os grupos pré e pós placebo ou fototerapia. Houve aumento no número de repetições máxima (GF: 16,50 ± 3,74 vs. GC: 12,22 ± 4,02; p < 0,05). Não foi observado aumento no tempo placebo (GF: 23,03 ± 5,45 vs. GC: 20,44 ± 3,81; p > 0,05) e no SEBT (GF: 100,63 ± 8,19 vs. GC: 101,38 ± 3,58; p > 0,05). A análise de CK também não apresentou melhores resultados (GFpré: 206,38 ± 103,22 e GFpós: 210,00 ± 101,50 vs. GCpré: 428,89 ± 303,11 e GCpós: 428,89 ± 297,83; p > 0,05). Esses achados indicam que a fototerapia é capaz de melhorar a endurance nesse população.
