    Were part of the treatment group 13 women , they performed 10 treatment sessions, twice a week . The treatment consisted of joint mobilization techniques: the medial - lateral and longitudinal slides made ??on the temporomandibular joints in a small degree of motion, intermittently for 30 seconds, repeated twice. In between each mobilization , there were five mouth opening movements with language in the incisive papilla , in order to promote local relaxation. The lateral mobilization of the hyoid bone performed repeatedly for 30 seconds twice , with the patient supine. Another 13 women belonged to the control group did not perform any treatment until the reassessment.

    Fizeram parte do grupo tratamento 13 mulheres, estas realizaram 10 sessões de tratamento, duas vezes por semana. O tratamento consistiu em técnicas de mobilização articular:deslizamentos longitudinal e medial-lateral realizados sobre as articulações temporomandibulares em pequeno grau de movimento, intermitentemente durante 30 segundos, sendo repetida por duas vezes. No intervalo entre cada mobilização, foram realizados cinco movimentos de abertura bucal com língua na papila incisiva, com objetivo de promover o relaxamento local. A mobilização lateral do osso hioide realizada repetidamente, durante 30 segundos por duas vezes, com o paciente em decúbito dorsal.

    Women; have TMD diagnosis as the RDC / TMD instrument; Temporomandibular index greater than 0.5 ; belong to age group 18-40 years; patients able to understand commands ; are willing to participate in the study by signing the free and informed consent.

They were selected according to the sample calculation , thirty patients. A reduction of mixed dysfunction of 92.3 % to 15.4 % in the treatment group . In addition, TMD diagnosis , present in all patients in the evaluation , was deleted in 69.2 % of patients in the treatment group , the revaluation . There was an increase in the pain threshold in the anterior temporal muscle, masseter average .                                                         Foram selecionadas, de acordo com o cálculo amostral, trinta pacientes. Observou-se redução da disfunção mista de 92,3% para 15,4%, no grupo tratamento. Além disso, o diagnóstico de DTM, presente em todas as pacientes na avaliação, foi suprimido em 69,2% das pacientes do grupo tratamento, na reavaliação.                                                     These findings show that the joint mobilization was effective in suppressing the DTM and tenderness of the anterior temporal muscles. The technique does not interfere with the muscle activity that little was altered in the study participants, although these present serious DTM .

                                                    Estes achados mostram que, a mobilização articular foi efetiva na supressão da DTM e na sensibilidade dolorosa dos músculos temporal anterior.
