Interventions:

An open-label, two-arm randomized clinical trial will be conducted. Fifty kidney transplant recipients followed at the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital will be allocated to either the test group (n = 25) or the control group (n = 25). Randomization will be performed using a computer-generated random sequence. Participants will undergo a comprehensive periodontal clinical examination, including visible plaque index, probing depth, clinical attachment loss, bleeding on probing, and calculation of the periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA). Blood samples will be collected for the analysis of inflammatory markers (C-reactive protein, interleukins 1, 6, and 17, and tumor necrosis factor), as well as other biomarkers related to inflammation and renal function. The test group will receive immediate periodontal treatment, whereas the control group will receive the same treatment after a six-month delay. Periodontal therapy will consist of non-surgical periodontal treatment, including supra- and subgingival scaling using ultrasonic devices and manual curettes.

Ensaio clínico randomizado aberto de dois braços. 50 receptores de transplante renal acompanhados no Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernest serão distribuídos entre grupo teste (25) e grupo controle (25). A randomização será feita por meio de sequência aleatória gerada por computador. Os participantes serão submetidos à avaliação clínica periodontal completa, incluindo índice de placa visível, profundidade de sondagem, perda de inserção clínica, sangramento à sondagem e cálculo do índice de área de superfície periodontal inflamada. Será realizada coleta de sangue para análise de marcadores inflamatórios os( proteína c reativa, imterleucinas 1,6,17 e fator de necrose tumoral), além de outros biomarcadores relacionados à inflamação e função renal. O grupo teste receberá tratamento periodontal imediato e o grupo controle receberá o tratamento em um segundo momento, seis meses depois. O tratamento periodontal consistirá em terapia periodontal não cirúrgica, incluindo raspagem supragengival e subgengival com ultrassom e curetas manuais.

Kidney transplant patients seeking care at Pedro Ernesto University Hospital; Patients diagnosed with Stage III and IV periodontitis; Patients must have at least 8 teeth in the mouth (excluding third molars);Patients eligible to undergo periodontal treatment without the need for antibiotic prophylaxis; individuals of both sexes and all age groups
