    24 patients were paired and drawn in two groups: 14 in the control group (CG) and 10 in the intervention group (GI) and patients with dysphagia after stroke were included with enteral diet and over 40 years of age. During six months CG patients were evaluated and submitted to monthly speech therapy according to the routine of the service. GI patients underwent weekly speech therapy for six months. The clinical evolution of dysphagia, the results of the scales and the possible weaning of the catheter were evaluated.

    24 pacientes foram pareados e sorteados em dois grupos: 14 no grupo controle (GC) e 10 no grupo intervenção (GI), sendo incluídos pacientes com disfagia após AVC, com uso de dieta enteral e maiores de 40 anos. Durante seis meses, os pacientes do GC foram avaliados e submetidos à fonoterapia mensal de acordo com a rotina do serviço. Os pacientes do GI realizaram fonoterapia semanal, por seis meses.                                                         Degree of dysphagia assessed through the Functional Oral Intake Scale that measures the amount of oral diet. This scale varies from level 1, where the individual feeds from an exclusive enteral diet to level 7 where the patient is able to safely eat orally at any consistency without the need for diet modification.

                                                        Grau de disfagia avaliado através da Escala Funcional de Ingestão Oral que mensura a quantidade de dieta oral segura.                                                     Degree of dysphagia presented evaluated through the result of the Risk Assessment Protocol for Dysphagia. This is a clinical evaluation where aspects of oral and pharyngeal phases of swallowing are observed such as: uptake, oral transit, swallowing reflex, laryngeal elevation, cervical auscultation. The result of this evaluation determines the degree of dysphagia presented, which can be:
mild dysphagia;
moderate dysphagia;

                                                    Grau de disfagia apresentado avaliado através do resultado do Protocolo de Avaliação de Risco para a Disfagia. Esta é uma avaliação clínica onde se observam aspectos das fases oral e faríngea da deglutição tais como: captação, trânsito oral, reflexo de deglutição, elevação laríngea, ausculta cervical. o resultado desta avaliação determina o grau de disfagia apresentado podendo ser:
-disfagia leve;
-disfagia moderada;
