    This is a randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled, three-arm clinical study. A randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial will be conducted with a sample of approximately 75 physically active adults who will be divided into three groups: a) Control Group (CG; n=25): only electroencephalography, electromyography, and posturography will be evaluated; b) Placebo Group (SHAM; n=25): a “false manipulation” will be performed through the spontaneous fall of the cervical drop from the stretcher with electroencephalography, electromyography, and posturography evaluation before and after; and c) Upper Cervical Manipulation Group (GMCA; n=25): manipulation of the upper cervical (C0-C2) will be performed using the Toggle Recoil technique with electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and posturography evaluation before and after the manipulation. The EEG will be checked, before and after the manipulation, in the patterns of the Alpha, Mu (μ), gamma (γ), and beta (β) waves. EMG will be assessed concomitantly with posturography through the GC, SHAM and GMCA conditions along three different positions on the force platform: a) Parallel feet: Participants will be instructed to stand with their feet parallel and with a distance between them similar to their hips; b) Semi-Tandem condition: Participants will be instructed to stand with their feet parallel at hip distance, with the dominant foot positioned posterior to the non-dominant foot, with the heel of the front foot aligned with the arch of the back foot; c) Tandem condition: Participants will stand and will be instructed to place one non-dominant foot in front of the dominant one, with the front foot slightly to the side to increase stability. EMG recordings will be attached to the medial gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior muscles of both lower limbs, at the level of the ankle

    Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado, triplo-cego e controlado por placebo de três braços. Será realizado um ensaio clínico randomizado e controlado por placebo com uma amostra aproximada de 75 adultos fisicamente ativos os quais serão divididos em três grupos: a) Grupo Controle (GC; n=25): será realizada apenas a avaliação da eletroencefalografia, eletromiografia e posturografia, b) Grupo Placebo (SHAM; n=25): será realizada uma “falsa manipulação” através da queda espontânea do drop cervical da maca com avaliação da eletroencefalografia, eletromiografia e posturografia antes e depois e c) Grupo Manipulação de Cervical Alta (GMCA; n=25): será realizada manipulação de cervical alta (C0-C2) através da técnica de Toggle Recoil com avaliação da eletroencefalografia (EEG), eletromiografia (EMG) e posturografia antes e depois da manipulação. A EEG será verificada, antes e após a manipulação, nos padrões das ondas Alfa, Mu (μ), gama (γ) e beta (β). A EMG será avaliada em concomitância a posturografia através das condições GC, SHAM e GMCA ao longo de três diferentes posicionamentos encima da plataforma de força: a) Pés paralelos: Os participantes serão instruídos a permanecerem de pé com os pés paralelos e com uma distância entre eles similar ao seu quadril; b) Condição Semi-Tandem: Os participantes serão instruídos a permanecerem de pé com os pés paralelos na distância do quadril, com o pé dominante posicionado posteriormente ao pé não-dominante, como calcanhar do pé da frente alinhado com o arco do pé de trás; c) Condição Tandem: Os participantes ficarão de pé e serão instruídos a colocarem um pé não-dominante a frente do dominante, com o pé da frente ligeiramente ao lado para aumentar a estabilidade.
