photobiomodulation in 15 young women with femuropatellar dysfunction, with cluster (laser - 830 nm and LED - 590 nm) 8.4 J per therapy, in 12 therapies (3 therapies per week), applied to the joint of interest. For the control group, 15 young women with the same dysfunction were also separated, but without the application of therapy.

Pain in the anterior region of the knee with a score higher than 3 on the Visual Analogue Pain Scale (VAS). Positive result on the McConnel test and a Clarke's sign.

Results summary:

This study is characterized as quantitative, experimental, randomized, composed of 30 women with patelofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), randomized into two groups: Control Group (CG) and PBM Group (PBMG). Both groups underwent three evaluations: pre-intervention, post-intervention, and after one month of followup. Participants of the PBMG were presented to the application of the cluster device, three times a week, for four weeks. The intensity of spontaneous pain and movement were evaluated, knee function tests and function questionnaires. The results showed a reduction in pain only for the landing of the jump. As for the other variables there was no interaction of factors; the questionnaires used showed larger effect sizes for PBMG when compared to CG. It is possible to conclude that the use of PBM showed benefit in reducing pain at the time of landing of the jump and functional assessment questionnaires.

Este estudo é caracterizado como quantitativo, experimental, randomizado, composto de 30 mulheres com síndrome dolorosa patelofemoral (SDPF), randomizadas em dois grupos: Grupo de Controle (GC) e Grupo Fotobiomodulação (GFBM). Ambos os grupos foram submetidos a três avaliações: pré-intervenção, pós-intervenção e após um mês de acompanhamento. Os participantes do GFBM realizaram aplicação do dispositivo cluster, três vezes por semana, durante quatro semanas. A intensidade da dor espontânea e do movimento foram avaliadas, testes de função do joelho e questionários de função. Os resultados mostraram uma redução na dor apenas para o pouso do salto. Quanto às outras variáveis, não houve interação de fatores; os questionários utilizados mostraram maiores tamanhos de efeito para PBMG quando comparados ao CG. É possível concluir que o uso de FBM mostrou benefício na redução da dor no momento do pouso dos questionários de salto e de avaliação funcional.
