    For the clinical analysis, a split-mouth design was used with 3 groups of study. After random drawing of 51 volunteers, in one of the hemiarches the control treatment with 10% carbamide peroxide was performed for 8 hours, while the other received the treatment with the same bleaching gel, however, respecting the experimental application times of the peroxide. 10% carbamide, which were 1, 2, and 4 hours/day (17 volunteers). Therefore, acetate trays containing a 10% carbamide peroxide-based bleaching gel were used for 1 and 8 hours/day (GI); 2 and 8 hours/day (GII) and 4 and 8 hours/day (GIII), for 21 consecutive days in the upper arch (Table 1 and Chart 1). Those who did not use the trays/whitening product for the previously recommended time were excluded during the bleaching treatment. Excluded patients were replaced. The response variables for the clinical analysis were: the effectiveness of tooth whitening (tooth color change), analyzed digitally (Vita Easyshade) and by the visual method (Vita Tooth guide 3D-Master with Vita Bleached Shade Guide). Tooth sensitivity and the degree of gingival irritation were analyzed using the visual analog method. The additional treatment time variable corresponds to the number of days/hours that the experimental use times (1, 2 and 4 hours) required, in addition to the 21 days of treatment, to obtain the same color change as the control group (8 hours). Therefore, under these conditions, the time of daily application of the bleaching product, in the experimental half-arc, was the same as previously applied. The degree of patient satisfaction with the time of use of the trays/whitening material proposed was analyzed by the visual analog method at the end of the whitening treatment.

    Para a análise clínica foi utilizado um delineamento tipo split-mouth, ou de boca dividida com 3 grupos de estudo. Após sorteio aleatório dos 51 voluntários, em uma das hemiarcadas foi realizado o tratamento controle com peróxido de carbamida a 10% pelo tempo de 8 horas, enquanto que a outra recebeu o tratamento com o mesmo gel clareador, porém, respeitando os tempos de aplicação experimentais do peróxido de carbamida a 10%, que foram de 1, 2, e 4 horas/dia (17 voluntários em cada grupo). Sendo assim, as moldeiras de acetato contendo o gel clareador a base de peróxido de carbamida à 10% foram empregadas pelos tempos de 1 e 8 horas/dia (GI); 2 e 8 horas/dia (GII) e 4 e 8 horas/dia (GIII), por 21 dias consecutivos no arco superior (Tabela 1 e Quadro 1). Foram excluídos durante o tratamento clareador, aqueles que não utilizaram as moldeiras/produto clareador pelo tempo previamente recomendado. Os pacientes excluídos foram substituídos. As variáveis de resposta para a análise clínica foram: a eficácia do clareamento dental (alteração de cor dental),  analisada método digital (Vita Easyshade) e pelo método visual (Vita Tooth guide 3D-Master with Vita Bleached Shade Guide). A sensibilidade dental e o grau de irritação gengival foram analisados através do método analógico visual. A variável tempo adicional de tratamento corresponde ao número de dias/horas, que os tempos de uso experimentais (1, 2 e 4 horas) necessitaram, além dos 21 dias de tratamento, para obter a mesma alteração de cor que o grupo controle (8 horas). Para tanto, nestas condições o tempo de aplicação diária do produto clareador, no hemi arco experimental, foi o mesmo que foi aplicado anteriormente. O grau de satisfação do paciente com os tempos de uso das moldeiras/material clareador propostos foi analisado pelo método analógico visual ao final do tratamento clareador.

    Those included in the study must present absence of caries lesion, deficient and/or fractured restorations, periodontal diseases and dental element with spontaneous pain; healthy oral soft tissues and good systemic condition; who do not have a history of adverse reaction to peroxides and teeth with at least A2 of color scale (VITA).
