  Intervention: The educative intervention using the flipchart about self-efficacy to breastfeed was performed with 56 pregnant women during their third semester of pregnancy, in a single moment, individualized, lasting between 30 to 40 minutes. The intervention was performed in a room localized in the basic unit of health care. Control: The 56 pregnant women receveid routine orientations about breastfeeding during prenatal consult.

  Increase self-efficacy scores of lactating women to breastfeed at the second, fourth and octave week postpartum, evaluated through: application of Mann-Whitney test to compare the mean scores of the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale- Short Form; risk relative calculation to estimate the intervention's effect in the breastfeeding scores, categorized in high and medium self-efficacy to breastfeeding, considering the level of significance in 5% of analyses.

  Comparing the self-efficacy scores to breastfeed before and after the educative intervention we observed statistically diference in the mean scores of the Breastfeeding Self-efficacy Scale- Short Form between women in the intervention group (56 women) and control group (56 women) (p<0,001) at second, fourth and octave week postpartum. At the octave week we observed increase in the proportions of women with high efficacy in the intervention group with statistically significant diference between the groups (p<0,001). The probability of women in the intervention group to reach high efficacy scores was 1,4 higher then the women in the control group, at the octave week postpartum.

  Ao comparar os escores de autoeficácia para amamentar antes e após a intervenção educativa constatou-se diferença estatística significante nas médias dos escores da Breastfeeding Self-efficacy Scale - Short entre as mulheres do grupo intervenção (56 mulheres) e grupo controle (56 mulheres) (p <0,001) na segunda, quarta e oitava semanas pós-parto. Na oitava semana constatou-se aumento na proporção de mulheres com eficácia alta no grupo intervenção com diferença estatística significante entre os grupos (p< 0,001). A probabilidade das mulheres do grupo intervenção atingirem escores de eficácia alta foi 1,4 vezes maior que as do grupo controle, na oitava semana pós-parto.

• Secondary outcomes:

  Increase the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in the first two months of the child's life evaluated through risk relative to estimate the educative intervention's effect considering the level of significance of 5% in the analyses.
