This was a randomized, double-arm clinical study conducted on 12 patients with a mean age of 45.8 years (±7.3 years), 6 females and 6 males. The patients required rehabilitation treatment with at least 2 dental implants in the premolar or molar region of the maxilla. After the installation of the dental implants and the end of the osseointegration period, a second surgical stage was performed for the installation of the abutments according to the randomized distribution. Each patient received two prosthetic abutments with different treatments, according to the following distribution: G1 (control group) machined healing abutments and G2 (experimental group) abutments with anodized surface treatment. After the soft tissue healing period (30 ± 7 days), a 5 mm circular biopsy was performed, and the prosthetic abutment and gingival tissue were removed simultaneously. The gingival biopsies were removed from the prosthetic abutments and subjected to histological, immunohistochemical and histomorphometric analysis.

Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado duplo braço realizado em 12 pacientes com média de idade 45,8 anos (±7,3 anos), sendo 6 do sexo feminino e 6 do sexo masculino. Os pacientes necessitavam de tratamento reabilitador com pelo menos 2 implantes dentários em região de pré-molar ou molar na maxila. Após a instalação dos implantes dentários e findado o período de osseointegração, um segundo estágio cirúrgico foi realizado para a instalação dos pilares, conforme distribuição randomizada. Cada paciente recebeu os dois pilares protéticos com tratamentos distintos, conforme distribuição a seguir: G1 (grupo controle) pilares de cicatrização usinados e G2 (grupo experimental) pilares com tratamento de superfície anodizada . Após o período de cicatrização dos tecidos moles (30 ± 7 dias), uma biópsia circular de 5 mm foi realizada, sendo removidos o pilar protético e tecido gengival simultaneamente. As biópsias gengivais foram removidas dos pilares protéticos e submetidas à análise histológica, imunoistoquímica e histomorfomética.

Patients of both sexes; partial edentulousness in the posterior maxilla; with absence of at least two teeth, whether contiguous or not; healed ridges that do not require tissue evacuation for subsequent implant installation; implants installed with primary stability; mucosal thickness on the ridge crest minimum of 2 mm in height of the keratinized tissue

Primary outcomes:

Histologically evaluate whether there is an increase in the healing of gingival soft tissue around different abutments when the prosthetic abutments are treated by anodization (group 2). Gingival quality was measured in the trephine using histological parameters, the number of blood vessels, and immunohistochemical markers for cell adhesion assessment.

Avaliar histologicamente se há incremento da cicatrização de tecido mole gengival ao redor dos diferentes pilares, quando realizado tratamento dos pilares protéticos por meio de anodização (grupo 2). Foi mensurado na trefina a qualidade gengival por meio de parâmetros histológicos, quantidade de vasos sanguíneos e marcadores de imunoistoquímica para avaliação de adesão celular.
