    The clinical study is a split-mouth study. We will analyze the influence of low-intensity InGaAIP laser with 660 nm wavelength, red light spectrum region, 100mW power, 640 J / cm2 energy density, for 180 seconds, associated to the 0.005% methylene blue photosensitizer in the caries lesion present on the occlusal surface of deciduous molars of children aged 6 to 9 years. The study will include 20 children who have two homologous deciduous molar teeth with carious lesion on the occlusal surface, and in one of the molars will be selective removal of the caries lesion followed by the application of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (described above) and in the another homologous molar, only the selective removal of the caries lesion will be done. That is, in all 20 children will be performed the two types of intervention: application of PDT and absence of PDT (control). Experimental group: 20 deciduous molars with active caries lesion on the occlusal surface. Control group: 20 deciduous molars with active caries lesion on the occlusal surface. The deciduous molars of the children will be distributed among the conditions in which the caries lesion will be submitted: with the use of PDT and without the use of PDT by the launching of coin (face and crown). One tooth will be treated at each clinical session.

    O estudo clínico é um estudo de boca dividida. Será analisada a influência do laser InGaAIP de baixa intensidade, com comprimento de onda de 660 nm, região vermelha do espectro de luz, potência de 100mW, densidade de energia de 640 J/cm2, durante 180 segundos, associado ao fotossensibilizador azul de metileno 0,005% na lesão de cárie presente na superfÍcie oclusal de molares decíduos de crianças entre 6 e 9 anos. Serão incluidas no estudo 20 crianças que apresentem dois molares decíduos homólogos com lesão de cárie na superfÍcie oclusal, sendo que, em um dos molares, será realizada a remoção seletiva da lesão de cárie seguida da aplicação da terapia fotodinâmica antimicrobiana (descrita anteriormente) e no outro molar homólogo, será feita apenas a remoção seletiva da lesão de cárie. Ou seja, em todas as 20 crianças serão realizadas os dois tipos de intervenção: aplicação da PDT e ausência de PDT (controle). Grupo experimental: 20 molares decíduos com lesão de cárie ativa na superficie oclusal. Grupo controle: 20 molares decíduos com lesão de cárie ativa na superficie oclusal.
Os molares decíduos das crianças serão distribuídos entre as condições em que a lesão de cárie será submetida: com utilização da PDT e sem a utilização da PDT através do lançamento de moeda (cara e coroa).     The children analyzed in the study should be aged between 6 and 9 years of both genders and should have at least one lesion of active class I caries in homologous molars. It is necessary that this lesion reaches the dentin being deep or medium. The lesion should cover only the occlusal surface (Class I) considering that the pulp is vital and there is no sealant; amalgam or composite resin restorations in the study tooth.

     As crianças analisadas no estudo deverão ter idade entre 6 e 9 anos; de ambos os gêneros e ter pelo menos uma lesão de cárie ativa classe I em molares homólogos. É necessário que essa lesão atinja a dentina sendo profunda ou média.     Children who have teeth changes such as pain; spontaneous sensitivity; fistula; edema; mobility not compatible with stage of rhizolysis and present in the radiographic examination the presence of radiolucency in the region of furca and periápice; increased periodontal space and internal / external dental resorption will not be selected for the study.

                                                        During the course of this clinical study, we hope that the results promote reduction of microorganisms after the application of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy. This will be analyzed through a careful microbiological analysis of the dentin collected at three different moments for the teeth that will be submitted to the photodynamic therapy: before the selective removal, after the selective removal and after the application of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, while for the teeth that will not receive the application of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, this collection of dentin will be performed in two periods only: before the selective removal and after the selective removal. The collected dentin will undergo a serial dilution process and will be inoculated in plates with SB20 culture medium for the growth of Streptococcus mutans. Plates will be incubated in 10% CO2 at 37 ° C for 48 hours. The colony forming units (CFUs) will be counted, and the results will be expressed in CFU / mg remaining dentin.

                                                        Durante a realização deste estudo clínico, esperamos que os resultados promovam redução dos microorganismos após a aplicação da terapia fotodinâmica antimicrobiana. Isso será analisado através de uma criteriosa análise microbiológica da dentina coletada em três diferentes momentos para os dentes que serão submetidos à terapia fotodinâmica: antes da remoção seletiva, após a remoção seletiva e após a aplicação da terapia fotodinâmica antimicrobiana, enquanto que para os dentes que não receberão a aplicação da terapia fotodinâmica antimicrobiana, essa coleta de dentina será realizada em dois períodos somente: antes da remoção seletiva e depois da remoção seletiva. A dentina coletada passará por um processo de diluições seriadas e será inoculada em placas com meio de cultura SB20 para que haja o crescimento de Streptococcus mutans. As placas serão incubadas em 10% de CO2 a 37 °C durante 48 horas.
