  This is a two-arm randomized controlled clinical trial with single-blinded researchers responsible for administering the data collection questionnaires and measuring the study variables with respect to each patient’s assigned group. However, due to the nature of the intervention, it will not be possible to blind the study participants, as they will be aware that they are part of the experimental group, since they will undergo the educational intervention. Experimental group: 50 parent/caregiver-child pairs, of both genders, of preschool age (3 to 5 years) will participate in the educational intervention course—Cooking That Teaches and Nourishes—featuring nutrition, food and dietary education activities, and cooking workshops, once a week (2 hours/week), for eight weeks. Control group: 50 parent/caregiver-child pairs, of both genders, of preschool age (3 to 5 years) will participate in a free 1-hour lecture on the topic - Early Childhood Nutrition: Steps Toward Adequate and Healthy Eating.

  Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado controlado de dois braços, com mascaramento simples dos pesquisadores responsáveis por aplicar os questionários de coleta de dados e mensurar as variáveis estudadas quanto ao grupo de alocação de cada paciente. Entretanto, devido à natureza da intervenção, não será possível mascarar o participante da pesquisa, considerando que este estará ciente de fazer parte do grupo experimental, por ser submetido ao curso da intervenção educativa. Grupo experimental: 50 pares de pais/cuidadores-crianças, de ambos os sexos, em idade pré-escolar (3 a 5 anos) irão participar do curso da intervenção educativa - Cozinha que Ensina e Nutre – com atividades de nutrição, educação alimentar e nutricional e oficinas culinárias, uma vez por semana (2 horas/semana), durante oito semanas. Grupo controle: 50 pares de pais/cuidadores-crianças, de ambos os sexos, em idade pré-escolar (3 a 5 anos) irão participar de uma palestra gratuita de 1 hora com o tema - Alimentação na primeira infância: Passos para uma alimentação adequada e saudável.

  The educational intervention is expected to be effective in increasing parents’ knowledge of healthy child nutrition and improving their cooking skills, as verified by Student’s t-test, based on a p-value of less than 0.001 before and after the intervention.
