  The volunteers will be divided into three groups, the number of volunteers in each group will be ten participants per group. The groups will be named as: (A) Electro-stimulation and supplementation with Whey Protein (EEW); Electro-stimulation will be performed individually, in the thigh straight, vastus lateral and vastus medialis muscles, under the supervision of a trained researcher. The duration will be 20 minutes, frequency 50 hz, modulated at 50%, rise: 4, decay: 4, ton: 5 toff: 15, the current intensity, in milliampere (ma), will be initially adjusted by the maximum tolerance of the individual, being increased according to the accommodation of the current. Three times a week for two consecutive weeks, totaling six sessions. After electrostimulation the patient will ingest orally a 20 grams dose of Whey Protein, dissolved in 250 milliliters of water, supervised by the researcher. (B) Electrostimulation (EE): Electro-stimulation will be performed individually on the thigh, vastus lateralis and vastus medialis muscles, under the supervision of a trained researcher. The duration will be 20 minutes, frequency 80 hz, modulated at 50%, rise: 4, decay: 4, ton: 5, toff: 15, the current intensity, in milliampere (ma), will be initially adjusted by the maximum tolerance Of the individual, being increased according to the accommodation of the current. Three times a week for two consecutive weeks, totaling six sessions. (C) Basal Control (CB): The volunteers of this group will be evaluated and reevaluated after two weeks, being advised not to perform any physiotherapeutic intervention during this period. This group will not receive any treatment.

Os grupos serão denominados como: (A) Eletroestimualação e suplementação com Whey Protein (EEW); A eletroestimulação será realizada individualmente, nos músculos reto da coxa, vasto lateral e vasto medial, sob supervisão de um pesquisador treinado. A duração será de 20 minutos, freqüência de 50 Hz, modulada a 50%, rise: 4, decay:4, ton: 5 toff: 15, a intensidade de corrente, em miliampere (mA), será ajustada inicialmente pela tolerância máxima do indivíduo, sendo aumentada de acordo com a acomodação da corrente. Será realizado três sessões semanais, durante duas semanas consecutivas, totalizando seis sessões. Após a eletroestimulação o paciente irá ingerir via oral uma dose de 20gramas de Whey Protein dissolvido em 250 mililitros de água, supervisionado pelo pesquisador. Esse grupo não receberá nenhum tratamento.

  Individuals with unilateral rupture of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament verified arthroscopically or by magnetic resonance imaging and who will undergo Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction surgery

  Patients with a history of renal disease; lactose intolerance; diabetes; history of surgery or contralateral knee dysfunction; any dysfunction or surgery in the hips; ankles or feet and for both groups; any neurological, cardiovascular; metabolic; rheumatic or vestibular disease; presence of cardiovascular or respiratory disease that impedes the performance of the study movements and patients who refuse to sign the informed consent form

  Improved contractility of 10% of thigh, vastus lateralis and vastus medialis muscles in patients participating in the Whey Protein group associated with Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation. The method used to evaluate the contractility of these muscles will be surface electromyography.
