  This is a two-arm, triple-blind, randomized controlled clinical study. Participants will be placed into 3 groups, through a draw,with 40 participants allocated per group. The 3 groups will be: 1, 2, 3. Group 1: 40 participants will receive photobiomodulation therapy, 808 nm, 100 mW, 40s/point, 4J of energy/point, distance of 1 cm between each irradiation point, intra-oral and extra-oral, continuous mode along the entire path of the alveolar nerve on the affected side, from the retro molar triangle region to the midline; the chin, cheeks, lips and gums will also be irradiated. Group 2: 40 participants will receive photobiomodulation therapy, 660 and 808 nm, simultaneously, 100mW, 20s/point, 2J of energy/point of each wavelength, distance of 1 cm between each irradiation point, intra-oral and extra-oral, continuous mode along the entire path of the alveolar nerve on the affected side, from the retro molar triangle region to the midline; the chin, cheeks, lips and gums will also be irradiated. Group 3: 40 participants will receive the photobiomodulation therapy simulation with the laser used in off mode (sham), distance of 1 cm between each irradiation point, intra-oral and extra-oral, continuous mode along the entire path of the alveolar nerve on the affected side, from the retro molar triangle region to the midline ; The chin, cheeks, lips and gums will also be irradiated. The laser application will be carried out by a trained researcher, using equipment that applies light to the tissues to be treated, at pre-established points in the mouth region (chin, lip, gums). As for assessments of the level of paresthesia, these are carried out by lightly touching the affected region with a microbrush (the soft part and handle of the microbrush will be used for evaluation tests, with light movements, without the intention of causing pain). After the assessment, participants will answer a specific questionnaire about quality of life

  Trata-se de um estudo clinico randomizado controlado de dois braços, triplo cego.Os participantes serão colocados em 3 grupos, através de sorteio,sendo alocado 40 participantes por grupo. Os 3 grupos serão: 1, 2, 3. Grupo 1: 40 participantes receberão terapia de fotobiomodulação, 808 nm, 100 mW, 40s/ponto, 4J de energia/ponto, distância de 1 cm entre cada ponto de irradiação, intra-oral e extra oral, modo contínuo por todo trajeto do nervo alveolar no lado comprometido, desde a região de trígono retro molar até a linha média; serão irradiadas também as regiões de mento (queixo), bochechas, lábios e gengiva. Grupo 2: 40 participantes receberão a terapia de fotobiomodulação, 660 e 808 nm, simultâneamente, 100 mW, 20s/ponto, 2J de energia/ponto de cada comprimento de onda, distância de 1 cm entre cada ponto de irradiação, intra-oral e extra oral, modo contínuo por todo trajeto do nervo alveolar no lado comprometido, desde a região de trígono retro molar até a linha média ; serão irradiadas também as regiões de mento (queixo), bochechas, lábios e gengiva. Grupo 3: 40 participantes receberão a simulação da terapia de fotobiomodulação com o laser utilizado no modo desligado (placebo), distância de 1 cm entre cada ponto de irradiação, intra-oral e extra- oral, modo contínuo por todo trajeto do nervo alveolar no lado comprometido, desde a região de trígono retro molar até a linha média; serão irradiadas também as regiões de mento (queixo), bochechas, lábios e gengiva. A aplicação de laser será realizada por um pesquisador treinado, utilizando um equipamento que aplica luz sobre os tecidos a serem tratados, em pontos pré-estabelecidos na região da boca (queixo, lábio, gengiva). Quanto às avaliações do nível de parestesia, estas são realizadas com leves toques na região afetada com microbrush ( será utilizada para teste de avaliação a parte macia e o cabo do microbrush, com movimentos leves, sem intenção de causar dor). Após a avaliação, os participantes irão responder a questionário específico sobre qualidade de vida

  Will be included, adults aged between 18 and 60 years; of both sexes and regardless of color or social class; with a main complaint of inferior alveolar nerve paresthesia who underwent orthognathic surgery or third molar extraction; who seek or are referred to "Laboratório Especial de Laser em Odontologia da Universidade de São Paulo" for the treatment of paresthesia; to all participants will be asked to sign the free and informed consent form

  Serão incluídos participantes adultos com idades entre 18 e 60 anos; de ambos os sexos e independentemente de cor ou classe social; com queixa principal de parestesia nervo alveolar inferior que foram submetidos a cirurgia ortognática ou exodontia de terceiro molar; que procurarem ou forem encaminhados para o Laboratório Especial de Laser em Odontologia da Universidade de São Paulo para tratamento de parestesia; a todos os participantes serão solicitadas as assinaturas do termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido

  Participants with paresthesia unrelated to orthognathic surgery or third molar extraction will be excluded; patients who also present lingual nerve paresthesia; patients with sensory changes reported before surgery or with a history of injury to trigeminal nervous tissue due to other interventions; patients who present paresthesia of the maxillary and/or mandibular branches of the trigeminal nerve and are undergoing some other type of treatment for paresthesia (Acupuncture; systemic medication; local physiotherapy; electrical stimulation); be using antidepressant or anxiolytic medications, and pregnant women
