Because it is a randomized crossover clinical trial, the volunteers received the intervention and the placebo cross-drawn by lottery, the draw of which procedure will be performed first will occur on the day of the evaluation through paper (50% chance for each procedure). The volunteers will be blinded as to the procedure they will be receiving in both moments of the study. The 30 volunteers will receive the intervention and the placebo at different times with a 24-hour interval between procedures. To perform the intervention, with the device turned off, the positive electrode (black) will be placed on the outside of the left ear and the red electrode (negative) on the cimba shell in the same direction as the first electrode. The device will be turned on and the letter "A" will be selected in the protocol for the intervention (25H z, 500μs, 30s On, 60s Off, intensity adjustment to the sensory threshold (<5mA, 30 minutes duration).

Por se tratar de um ensaio clínico randomizado cruzado, as voluntárias receberam a intervenção e o placebo de forma cruzada por sorteio, o sorteio de qual procedimento será realizado primeiro ocorrerá no dia da avaliação através de papel (50% de chance para cada procedimento). As voluntárias serão cegadas quanto ao procedimento que estará recebendo nos dois momentos do estudo. As 30 voluntárias receberão a intervenção e o placebo em momentos diferentes com intervalo de 24h entre os procedimentos. Para realização da intervenção, com o aparelho desligado será colocado o eletrodo positivo (preto) na parte externa da orelha esquerda e o eletrodo vermelho (negativo) na concha cimba na mesma direção do primeiro eletrodo. O aparelho será ligado e selecionado a letra “A” que consta do protocolo para a intervenção (25H z, 500μs, 30s On, 60s Off, ajuste de intensidade ao limiar sensorial (<5mA, 30 minutos de duração).

Inclusion criteria:

Elderly females aged 60 and 70 years; (residing in the state of Rondônia; attending a senior center/club; not smoking; not being cardiopathic, diabetic and hypertensive; and who agreed to participate in the study by signing the Free and Informed Consent Form.

Primary outcomes:

Evaluate heart rate variability by means of a polar H10 belt. It is expected to observe the cardiac autonomic behavior after an acute stimulation of the vagus nerve in the auricular branch.

Secondary outcomes:

To verify age, body mass index and schooling through a semi-structured questionnaire. Check the level of physical activity through a short IPAQ questionnaire. Check performance through a six-minute walk test.
