    This is a randomized, controlled, two-arm, blinded clinical trial. Experimental group: 79 ophthalmology residents, retinal fellows, anterior segment fellows, and experienced surgeons, with no previous experience with the technique, will be trained remotely (via teleconference) in the technique of 4-haptic scleral lens fixation (Akreos® - Bausch Lomb) using polytetrafluoroethylene sutures (GoreTex® CV-8) in a surgical model suitable for training intraocular lens fixations (SimulEye®). Control group: 79 ophthalmology residents, retinal fellows, anterior segment fellows, and experienced surgeons with no prior experience with the technique will be trained face-to-face in the same technique described for the experimental group. Participants will be randomized in order of study inclusion to face-to-face mentoring or tele-mentoring at a 1:1 ratio. Both groups will have a training module explaining the technique before the procedure. The experimental group will be trained with a single mentor who will interact with the surgeon-in-training through videoconferencing, with transmission of Ngenuity (Alcon®) images in a geographic location far from the operating room. Nine surgical steps essential to the technique will be assessed on a Likert scale of 1-3 by two independent, blinded surgeons using a rubric. The success rate of the procedure, and the Global Score (sum of the scores of each surgical step) will be compared between the groups.

    Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado, controlado de dois braços e cego. Grupo experimental: 79 residentes de oftalmologia, fellows de retina, fellows de segmento anterior, e cirurgiões experientes, sem experiência prévia com a técnica, serão treinados remotamente (via teleconferência) na técnica de fixação escleral de lente de 4 hápticos (Akreos® - Baush Lomb) usando suturas de politetrafluoretileno (GoreTex® CV-8) em um modelo cirúrgico próprio para o treinamento de fixações de lentes intraoculares (SimulEye®). Grupo controle: 79 
residentes de oftalmologia, fellows de retina, fellows de segmento anterior, e cirurgiões experientes, sem experiência prévia com a técnica, serão treinados presencialmente na mesma técnica descrita para o grupo experimental. Os participantes serão randomizados na ordem de inclusão no estudo para mentoria presencial ou telementoria em uma taxa de 1:1. Ambos os grupos terão um módulo de treinamento explicando a técnica antes do procedimento. O grupo experimental será treinado com um mentor único que irá interagir com o cirurgião em treinamento através de videoconferência, com transmissão das imagens do Ngenuity (Alcon®) em uma localização geográfica distante da sala de operação.  Nove passos cirúrgicos essenciais a técnica, serão acessados em uma escala de Likert de 1-3 por dois cirurgiões independentes e cegos, usando uma rubrica.                                                     It is expected to find a similar result between the experimental group (telementoring) and the control group (face to face), when comparing the success rate of the procedure (judgment by the mentor at the end of each training). A greater number of technical limitations related to image transmission, internet connection and audio problems are expected in the experimental group (telementorship).
