This is a quasi-experimental, pre- and post-intervention study, with immediate assessment and knowledge retention, conducted with parents or guardians of children treated at the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), located in the city of Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. The study population will consist of parents or legal guardians of children receiving care at the aforementioned clinic during the data collection period. Sampling will be by convenience, carried out on the days of clinical care. An educational booklet will be presented with information on initial caries lesions and how to perform an oral examination at home. Afterwards, the parents will be assessed on the knowledge acquired about these topics. Participants will be evaluated at three points: pre-test (initial assessment), immediate post-test (after the educational intervention), and retention post-test, carried out after 30 days, with the aim of analyzing the impact of the educational technology over time.

Trata-se de um estudo quase-experimental, do tipo pré e pós-intervenção, com avaliação imediata e de retenção de conhecimento, conduzido com pais ou responsáveis por crianças atendidas na Clínica de Odontopediatria da Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), localizada no município de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. A população do estudo será composta por pais ou responsáveis legais por crianças em atendimento na referida clínica durante o período de coleta de dados. A amostragem será por conveniência, realizada nos dias de atendimento clínico. Será apresentado uma cartilha educativa com informações sobre lesões iniciais de cárie e como realizar o exame bucal em casa. Depois os pais serão avaliados quanto ao conhecimento adquirido sobre esses temas. Os participantes serão avaliados em três momentos: pré-teste (avaliação inicial), pós-teste imediato (após a intervenção educativa) e pós-teste de retenção, realizado após 30 dias, com o objetivo de analisar o impacto da tecnologia educativa ao longo do tempo.
