  This is a randomized, double-blind clinical study. The study will rely on a census sample, as the opportunity to participate will be offered to everyone who meets the eligibility criteria. The total number of participants will be 60 patients, 20 per group. After the initial examination, with the evaluation of all the patient's teeth, and determination of data based on clinical parameters (gingival bleeding index and biofilm thickness index), each participant will receive a device to aid in home dental hygiene, used for one week. The control group will receive a kit with a brush, toothpaste, dental floss and an e-book containing tips and guidance on oral hygiene practices. The experimental groups developed, in addition to the kit and the e-book, a manufactured mouth opener or a mouth opener made using a 3D printer, with the purpose of assisting in the brushing process. Afterwards, they will be examined to observe the same clinical parameters (gingival bleeding index and biofilm thickness index). After a one-month interval, patients in the experimental groups receive another mouth-opening device, different from the one received in the first stage, but with the same purpose of assisting in the process of brushing the patient's teeth. After one week, clinical parameters will be selected again and the preference of those responsible regarding the type of device used will be assessed

  Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado, duplo cego. O estudo contará com uma amostra censitária, pois a oportunidade de participar será oferecida a todos que se enquadrarem nos critérios de elegibilidade. O número total de participantes será de 60 pacientes, sendo 20 por grupo. Após o exame inicial, com a avaliação de todos os dentes do paciente, e determinação dos dados basais dos parâmetros clínicos (índice de sangramento gengival e índice de espessura de biofilme), cada participante receberá um dispositivo para auxílio na higiene dental caseira, utilizado por uma semana. O grupo controle receberá um kit com escova, pasta de dente, fio dental e um e-book contendo dicas e orientações sobre as práticas de higiene bucal. Os grupos experimentais receberão, além do kit e do e-book, um abridor de boca manufaturado ou um abridor de boca confeccionado em impressora 3D, com a finalidade de auxiliar no processo de escovação. Após, serão examinados para observação dos mesmos parâmetros clínicos (índice de sangramento gengival e o índice de espessura de biofilme). Após o intervalo de um mês, os pacientes dos grupos experimentais receberão um outro dispositivo abridor de boca, diferente do recebido na primeira etapa, mas com o mesmo finalidade de auxiliar no processo de escovação dos dentes do paciente. Após uma semana, os parâmetros clínicos serão novamente verificados e a preferência dos responsáveis em relação ao tipo de dispositivo utilizado será avaliada

  Patients duly registered at the Clinic for Pediatric Patients with Disabilities of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics of the Faculty of Dentistry - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - FO/UFRJ; present cognitive deficit; limiting physical motor disability; do not perform their own oral hygiene, depending completely on a third party to perform this function; have gingivitis and/or visible biofilm on the day of the clinical examination; age from 5 to 40 years; both sexes

  Pacientes devidamente cadastrados na Clínica de Pacientes Pediátricos com Deficiência do Departamento de Odontopediatria e Ortodontia da Faculdade de Odontologia - Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro - FO/UFRJ; apresentem déficit cognitivo; deficiência física motora limitante; não realizem a própria higienização bucal, dependendo completamente de um terceiro para realizar tal função; apresentarem gengivite e/ou biofilme visível no dia do exame clínico; idade de 5 a 40 anos; ambos os sexos
