    Patients undergoing knee arthroplasty. Fifty patients were allocated randomly in two groups: (1) tourniquet was inflated throughout all the procedure in 25 patientes and (2) tourniquet was inflated only during skin incision and cementation in 25 patients. Radiolucent lines were analyzed by two blinded and independent examiners, using the The Knee Society Roentgenographic Evaluation and Scoring System. The functional scores used were the Oxford knee score and improvement in visual pain scale (VAS).

    Patients with knee primary osteoarthritis in which conservative measures have failed. Age  through 30 to 90 years; both genders; non-smoking; with no morbidity obesity (BMI above 40).
