  A total of 80 individuals participated in the research. Participants will be randomly allocated to two groups of 40 members: group 1 (will receive a lumbar spinal manipulation technique in a hypo mobile segment according to the evaluation performed) and group 2 (will receive a simulated lumbar spinal manipulation technique). Spinal manipulation will be performed using the technique called lumbar roll. The individual will be positioned in lateral decubitus with the target side up, the knee and hip flexed and the lower hip extended, the physiotherapist will stabilize the shoulder with the cephalic hand and the thigh with the leg itself, make manual contact with the caudal hand over the process nipple on the upper side of the vertebra to be manipulated with the hypothenar region of the caudal hand. The manipulation will be performed with a passive rotation movement at high speed and low amplitude in the anteroposterior direction in association with the fall of the applicator body (body drop). The simulated technique will be performed in a similar way to real manipulation, but with manual contact of the physiotherapist with the superior medial gluteal musculature in a broad and nonspecific way with the palm. The participant's spine will be kept in a neutral position and 90 ° of hip flexion. The applicator will perform a slow, smooth, and unspecific impulse associated with a small fall of the body The intervention will be carried out only once in both groups. The participants and the evaluator remain blind to the type of intervention.

  Participarão da pesquisa 80 indivíduos. Os participantes serão alocados aleatoriamente em um de dois grupos composto por 40 indivíduos: grupo 1 (receberá uma técnica de manipulação da coluna lombar em um segmento hipo-móvel de acordo com a avaliação realizada) e o grupo 2 (receberá uma técnica de manipulação da coluna vertebral lombar simulada). A alocação aleatória será obtida utilizando envelopes opacos contendo um código criado por um dos pesquisadores não envolvidos na avaliação ou intervenção dos participantes. A sequência de randomização será gerada usando o software gerador de números aleatórios. A manipulação da coluna vertebral será realizada usando a técnica chamada lumbar roll. O indivíduo será posicionado em decúbito lateral com o alvo voltado para cima, o joelho e o quadril flexionados e o quadril inferior estendido, o fisioterapeuta estabilizará o ombro com a mão cefálica e a coxa com a própria perna, fará contato manual com a mão caudal sobre o processo mamilar na parte superior da vértebra a ser manipulado com a região hipotenar da mão caudal. A manipulação será realizada com um movimento de rotação passiva em alta velocidade e baixa amplitude na direção anteroposterior em associação com a queda do corpo do aplicador (queda do corpo). A técnica simulada será realizada de maneira semelhante à manipulação verdadeira, mas com contato manual do fisioterapeuta com a musculatura glútea medial superior de forma ampla e inespecífica com a palma da mão. A coluna vertebral do participante será mantida em posição neutra e 90° de flexão de quadril. O aplicador realizará um impulso lento, suave e inespecífico associado a uma pequena queda do corpo. A intervenção será realizada apenas uma vez nos dois grupos. Os participantes e o avaliador permanecerão cegos quanto ao tipo de intervenção.

  Low back pain lasting at least three months; score on the numerical pain scale of at least 3 points at the time of assessment; age between 18 and 59 years; hypomobility in at least one lumbar vertebral segment verified during the physiotherapeutic evaluation through the posteroanterior pressure test in the prone position (Spring Test); symptoms that do not extend beyond the knee; absence of neuropathic pain components assessed using the painDETECT questionnaire.

  Chronic widespread pain; ligament laxity or hyper flexibility; pregnancy; conditions that contraindicate the use of vertebral manipulation techniques at high speed and low amplitude (red flags) such as vertebral fractures, cauda equina syndrome, cancer, inflammatory rheumatic diseases, vertebral infections, bone tuberculosis; any condition that may interfere with pain sensitivity measures, for example, changes in skin sensitivity, neurological diseases, psychiatric diseases or fibromyalgia; any condition that interferes with body balance, for example, neurological diseases or vestibulopathy.

  Increase in the pressure pain limit controlled with a pressure algometer from the observation of a variation of at least 15% in the pressure pain limit in the pre and post-intervention measurements. They will be evaluated bilaterally as following regions: middle part of the medial gastrocnemius muscle, anterior tibial muscle laterally at the level of the anterior tibial tuberosity, two sides laterally to the L5 spine process, two sides laterally to the L1 spine process, medium deltoid pattern, two pieces distal to the lateral epicondyle.

  Improved postural stability, assessed by decreasing the oscillation of the body's pressure center (CoP) through baropodometry from the observation of a variation of at least 15% in the pre and post-intervention measurements. The stability variables investigated by means will be the CoP ellipse area (mm2), the standard deviation of the amplitude (mm) of the displacement of the CoP Antero/Posterior, and Medio/Lateral.
