Interventions

  BioMin F Group: 20 participants with one tooth with dentin hypersensitivity greater than or equal to 4 on the visual analog scale after an evaporative stimulus and after a tactile stimulus. Participants will complete the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) questionnaire to assess oral health-related quality of life. After 6 weeks, these participants will receive the BioMin F toothpaste in an unidentified tube and will use the product for 6 months, and after 1, 3 and 6 months they will have dentin hypersensitivity measured through the visual analog scale after evaporative and tactile stimuli, and will answer the OHIP-14 questionnaire. Elmex Erosion Protection Group: 20 participants with one tooth with dentin hypersensitivity greater than or equal to 4 on the visual analog scale after an evaporative stimulus and after a tactile stimulus. Participants will complete the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) questionnaire to assess oral health-related quality of life. After 6 weeks, these participants will receive the Elmex Erosion Protection toothpaste in an unidentified tube and will use the product for 6 months, after 1, 3 and 6 months they will have dentin hypersensitivity measured through the visual analog scale after evaporative and tactile stimuli, and will answer the OHIP-14 questionnaire. NaF Varnish Group (control group): 20 participants with one tooth with dentin hypersensitivity greater than or equal to 4 on the visual analog scale after an evaporative stimulus and after a tactile stimulus. Participants will complete the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) questionnaire to assess oral health-related quality of life. After 6 weeks, these participants will receive an application of the fluoride varnish Duraphat (22600ppm NaF), and after 1, 3 and 6 months they will have the dentin hypersensitivity measured through the visual analog scale after evaporative and tactile stimuli, and will answer the OHIP-14 questionnaire. TiF4 Varnish Group: 20 participants with one tooth with dentin hypersensitivity greater than or equal to 4 on the visual analog scale after an evaporative stimulus and after a tactile stimulus. Participants will complete the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) questionnaire to assess oral health-related quality of life. After 6 weeks, these participants will receive an application of the fluoride varnish based on TiF4 (4% TiF4), and after 1, 3 and 6 months the dentin hypersensitivity will be measured through the visual analog scale after evaporative and tactile stimuli, and will respond to the OHIP-14 questionnaire.

Após 6 semanas, esses participantes receberão o dentifrício BioMin F em um tubo não identificado e farão uso do produto durante 6 meses, sendo que após 1, 3 e 6 meses terão a hipersensibilidade dentinária medida através da escala visual analógica após estímulos evaporativo e tátil, e responderão ao questionário OHIP-14. Grupo Elmex Erosion Protection: 20 participantes com um dente com hipersensibilidade dentinária maior ou igual a 4 na escala visual analógica após um estímulo evaporativo e após um estímulo tátil. Os participantes preencherão o questionário Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) para avaliação da qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde bucal. Os participantes preencherão o questionário Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) para avaliação da qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde bucal. Após 6 semanas, esses participantes receberão uma aplicação do verniz fluoretado Duraphat (22600ppm NaF), sendo que após 1, 3 e 6 meses terão a hipersensibilidade dentinária medida através da escala visual analógica após estímulos evaporativo e tátil, e responderão ao questionário OHIP-14. Após 6 semanas, esses participantes receberão uma aplicação do verniz fluoretado a base de TiF4 (4% TiF4), sendo que após 1, 3 e 6 meses terão a hipersensibilidade dentinária medida através da escala visual analógica após estímulos evaporativo e tátil, e responderão ao questionário OHIP-14. Os participantes nos grupos que utilizarão verniz fluoretado escovarão os dentes com uma pasta de dente fluoretada convencional (sem ação dessensibilizante) durante toda a condução do estudo, e receberão esse produto em um tubo não identificado.

• Exclusion criteria:

  Patients with active caries lesions; defective restorations on selected teeth; structural loss of dentin that requires restorative or periodontal treatment; who has used any professional desensitizing agent in the past 6 months; use of some desensitizing toothpaste in the last 3 months; who uses anti-inflammatory medicine during the study period; patients using orthodontic appliances; smokers; pregnant women.

  Pacientes com lesões de cárie ativas; restaurações defeituosas nos dentes selecionados; perda estrutural de dentina que exija tratamento restaurador ou periodontal; que tenha feito uso de algum agente dessensibilizante profissional nos últimos 6 meses; uso de algum dentifrício dessensibilizante nos últimos 3 meses; que faça uso de anti-inflamatórios/analgésicos durante o período do estudo; pacientes usuários de aparelho ortodôntico; fumantes; grávidas.

  The reduction of dentin hypersensitivity verified immediately after the first use of the product, after 1 month, 3 months and 6 months will be evaluated by the use of the visual analog scale associated with evaporative and tactile stimuli in sensitive teeth, and its influence on the related quality of life oral health measured by changing the score of the OHIP-14 questionnaire, and the differences will be assessed based on the finding of a variation of at least 5% in the measurements between periods.

  Será avaliada a redução da hipersensibilidade dentinária verificado imediatamente após o primeiro uso do produto, após 1 mês, 3 meses e 6 meses pelo uso da escala visual analógica associada a estímulos evaporativos e táteis nos dentes sensíveis, e a sua influência na qualidade de vida relacionada a saúde bucal medida através da alteração do score do questionário OHIP-14, sendo que as diferenças serão avaliadas a partir da constatação de uma variação de ao menos 5% nas medições entre períodos.
