  This was a clinical study with a quantitative approach and consisted of an interventional, descriptive, and comparative study. Descriptive and comparative study. According to the sample size calculation, 52 patients on hemodialysis treatment will be studied. These patients will be divided into four groups, each with 13 patients each, namely: control group; auriculotherapy group; physical exercise group; and auriculotherapy+physical exercise group. The recruited patients were distributed in 4 groups, taking into consideration the days of the week and the shifts that they performed hemodialysis. The patients in the first shift (5:30 am) were part of the Resistance Exercise Group; the patients in the second shift (10 am) were part of the Auricular Acupuncture + Resistance Exercise Group; the patients in the third shift (2:30 pm) were part of the Auricular Acupuncture Group; and the patients who agreed to participate in the research but did not undergo any type of intervention, regardless of their hemodialysis shift, were included in the Control Group. The intervention was performed and supervised by a Physical Education Professional specialized in Acupuncture and trained in auriculotherapy. Auricular Acupuncture Group: consisting of a closed protocol of 12 sessions, with one session per week. Resistance Physical Exercise Group: Exercise sessions were performed in a sitting and/or lying position, in a standard hemodialysis chair, 3 times a week for 12 weeks, totaling 36 sessions. Group Auricular Acupuncture + Resistance Exercise: the joint intervention was composed of a closed protocol of 12 sessions of Auricular Acupuncture, being performed one session per week, concomitantly with 2 sessions per week of resistance exercise for 12 weeks, totaling 24 sessions.

  Este foi um estudo clínico de abordagem quantitativa e consistiu em estudo intervencional, de caráter descritivo e comparativo. De acordo com o cálculo amostral, serão estudados 52 pacientes em tratamento hemodialítico. Estes pacientes serão divididos em quatro grupos, cada qual com 13 pacientes cada, a saber: grupo controle; grupo auriculoterapia; grupo exercício físico; e grupo auriculoterapia+exercício físico. Os pacientes recrutados foram distribuídos em 4 grupos, levando em consideração os dias da semana e os turnos que os mesmos realizavam hemodiálise. Os pacientes do primeiro turno (5h30min) fizeram parte do Grupo Exercício Físico Resistido; os pacientes do segundo turno (10h) fizeram parte do Grupo Acupuntura Auricular + Exercício Físico Resistido; os pacientes do terceiro turno (14h30min) fizeram parte do Grupo Acupuntura Auricular; e os pacientes que concordaram em participar da pesquisa porém não realizaram nenhum tipo de intervenção, independentemente do turno de hemodiálise, foram inclusos no Grupo Controle. A intervenção foi realizada e supervisionada por um Profissional de Educação Física especialista em Acupuntura e com formação em auriculoterapia. Grupo Acupuntura Auricular: constituída por um protocolo fechado de 12 sessões, sendo realizada uma sessão por semana. Grupo Exercício Físico Resistido: As sessões de exercícios foram realizadas em posição sentada e/ou deitada, em uma cadeira padrão de hemodiálise, 3 vezes por semana durante 12 semanas, totalizando 36 sessões. Grupo Acupuntura Auricular + Exercício Físico Resistido: a intervenção conjunta foi composta por por um protocolo fechado de 12 sessões de Acupuntura Auricular, sendo realizada uma sessão por semana, concomitantemente à 2 sessões por semana de exercício físico resistido durante 12 semanas, totalizando 24 sessões.

  Included in the study were patients of both genders; aged 18 years or older; who were under medical follow-up due to a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease; on hemodialysis for at least 6 months;

  Expected outcome: It is expected with this project to identify the effectiveness of physical exercise and auricular acupuncture in the population under hemodialysis, in order to identify the benefits of these practices in terms of improving the quality of life of these patients, in order to minimize the suffering caused by this therapy, namely: nausea, systemic pain, vomiting, depressive symptoms, anxiety and fatigue. In addition, we aim to develop technical and scientific materials based on the themes studied, such as case reports, abstracts for conferences, course completion papers and articles

  Outcome found: the application of auriculotherapy and physical exercise treatments resistance in patients undergoing hemodialysis promoted protection against oxidative stress by increased levels of antioxidants, in addition to reducing reactive oxygen species and some mediators that suggest inflammatory processes. These non-pharmacological treatments also altered routine biochemical markers of patients and further served as tools to increase the perception of quality of life.

  Desfecho encontrado: a aplicação dos tratamentos de auriculoterapia e de exercício físico resistido em pacientes submetidos à hemodiálise promoveram proteção sobre o estresse oxidativo por aumento dos níveis de antioxidantes, além de reduzir as espécies reativas de oxigênio e de alguns mediadores que sugerem processos inflamatórios. Esses tratamentos não farmacológicos também alteraram marcadores bioquímicos rotineiros dos pacientes e para mais serviram como ferramentas para o aumento da percepção de qualidade de vida.
