  This is a two-arm, double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial. Before implementation, all 59 volunteers will be subjected to dental prophylaxis with a low speed handpiece and pumice. The two interventions will be implemented simultaneously to both hemi-arches determined by randomization. Two dentists with at least three years of clinical experience will conduct the implementation steps. The operators will perform impressions of the mandibular arches of all volunteers (Avagel, Dentsply Sirona, SP, Brazil). After disinfection with 0.5% sodium hypochlorite, stone molds will be obtained (K-dent, SC, Brazil), and 1-mm bleaching trays will be fabricated with vinyl acetate plates (Whiteness Tray Plates, FGM, Joinville, SC, Brazil) in a vacuum plasticizer (Plastivac P7, BioArt, São Carlos, SP, Brazil). The bleaching trays will be cut straight 1 mm above the gingival margin. In the hemi-arch where 6% hydrogen peroxide will be applied in the custom tray (PolaDay 6% SDI, Victoria, Australia), no tray modification will be performed. However, in the other hemi-arch, a wide window extending from the central incisor up to the second premolar will be made to allow the patient to apply the 6% hydrogen peroxide brush-on varnish (Pola Luminate 6% SDI, Victoria, Australia).In which the two protocols will be carried out at the same time. All participants will be instructed to blot dry the buccal surface of their maxillary teeth with a tissue. First, they will be instructed to load the hemi-arch bleaching tray by applying a pea-sized amount of the bleaching gel to the buccal surface of each tooth in the customized bleaching tray. Then, they will be instructed to wear the tray. In case of material leaking, the patient will be instructed to remove the excess gel with a cotton swab.Then, participants will blot dry again the other hemi-arch, retract their lower lips, apply a thin layer of the brush-on bleaching product to cover the buccal surfaces, and wait for 30 s before allowing their lips to touch their teeth. This order was chosen to ensure the patient does not apply the varnish to the wrong randomized hemi-arch. The operators will give all instructions verbally and they will share a very short video through WhatsApp® messaging app with the whole explanation of the procedure. The bleaching tray should be worn for 30 min a day for 21 days. After the daily bleaching period, the subjects were instructed to remove the trays and rinse them and their mouth with water until the removal of the gel/varnish from the dental surfaces. Patients will be instructed to use regular and non-whitening toothpaste for oral hygiene and to store the bleaching gel and bleaching varnish in a cool place and shield it from sunlight exposure. To help patients remain compliant with the treatment, we will send cell phone messages through the WhatsApp® app to remind them of the daily bleaching protocol.To improve patients' adherence to the protocol, all patients will be made aware that, although only the lower arch will be considered for the purposes of the present study, the bleaching of the upper arch will be performed after finalizing in the lower arch.

  Trata-se de um estudo de ensaio clínico randomizado controlado de dois braços, duplo-cego. Antes da implementação, todos os 59 voluntários serão submetidos à profilaxia dentária com peça de mão de baixa velocidade e pedra-pomes. As duas intervenções serão implementadas simultaneamente para ambos os hemi-arcos determinados por randomização. Dois dentistas com pelo menos três anos de experiência clínica conduzirão as etapas de implementação. Os operadores realizarão moldagens dos arcos mandibulares de todos os voluntários (Avagel, Dentsply Sirona, SP, Brasil). Após a desinfecção com hipoclorito de sódio a 0,5%, serão obtidos moldes de pedra (K-dent, SC, Brasil), e moldeiras de clareamento de 1 mm serão confeccionadas com placas de acetato de vinila (Whiteness Tray Plates, FGM, Joinville, SC, Brasil) em plastificante a vácuo (Plastivac P7, BioArt, São Carlos, SP, Brasil). As moldeiras personalizadas serão cortadas retas 1 mm acima da margem gengival. No hemi-arco onde será aplicado peróxido de hidrogênio a 6% na moldeira personalizada (PolaDay 6% SDI, Victoria, Austrália), nenhuma modificação da moldeira será realizada. No entanto, no outro hemi-arco, será feita uma ampla janela que se estende do incisivo central até o segundo pré-molar para permitir que o paciente aplique o verniz brush-on de peróxido de hidrogênio a 6% (Pola Luminate 6% SDI, Victoria, Austrália). No qual os dois protocolos serão realizados ao mesmo tempo.Todos os participantes serão instruídos a secar a superfície vestibular dos dentes inferiores com um lenço de papel. Primeiro, eles serão instruídos a carregar a moldeira personalizada do hemi-arco aplicando uma quantidade do tamanho de uma ervilha do gel clareador na superfície vestibular de cada dente na moldeira personalizada. Em seguida, eles serão instruídos a usar a moldeira. Em caso de vazamento de material, o paciente será orientado a retirar o excesso de gel com cotonete. Em seguida, os participantes secarão novamente o outro hemi-arco, e retraíram os lábios inferiores, aplicarão uma fina camada do produto clareador para cobrir as superfícies vestibulares e esperarão 30 segundos antes de permitir que os lábios toquem os dentes. Essa ordem foi escolhida para garantir que o paciente não aplique o verniz no hemi-arco aleatório errado.Os operadores darão todas as instruções verbalmente e compartilharão um vídeo muito curto através do aplicativo de mensagens WhatsApp® com toda a explicação do procedimento. A moldeira personalizada deve ser usada por 30 min duas vezes ao dia durante 21 dias. Após o período diário de clareamento, os pacientes serão orientados a retirar as moldeiras, enxaguá-las e realizar a escovação dos dentes com água e creme dental até a retirada do gel/verniz das superfícies dentárias. Os pacientes serão instruídos a usar creme dental regular e não clareador para higiene bucal e a armazenar o gel clareador e o verniz clareador em local fresco e protegê-lo da exposição à luz solar. Para ajudar os pacientes a permanecerem em conformidade com o tratamento, enviaremos mensagens de celular pelo aplicativo WhatsApp® para lembrá-los do protocolo diário de clareamento. Para melhorar a adesão dos pacientes ao protocolo, todos os pacientes serão informados de que, embora apenas a arcada inferior seja considerada para fins do presente estudo, o clareamento da arcada superior será realizado anteriormente em outra pesquisa paralela.
