This is a randomized, controlled, two-arm, double-blind clinical study. In the experimental group, 17 cancer patients with chronic pain will receive transcranial anodal direct current stimulation for 5 consecutive days. In the control group, 17 patients with the same conditions will receive the same setup and duration of the interventions. However, the current will be released in a ramp-like fashion for only 30 seconds. The participants will be blinded to the intervention, so they will not know which group they will be part of

Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado controlado de dois braços, duplo-cego. No grupo experimental, 17 pacientes oncológicos com dor crônica receberão estimulação trascraniana por corrente contínua anódica por 5 dias consecutivos, já no grupo controle, 17 pacientes com as mesmas condições receberão a mesma montagem e duração das intervenções, entretanto, a corrente será liberada em forma de rampa por apenas 30 segundos. Os participantes estarão cegos em relação à intervenção, neste sentido eles não saberão sobre o grupo que farão parte

Inclusion criteria:

Patients of both genders; aged over 18 years; diagnosed with any type of cancer at any stage; under the care of the hospital team; having chronic musculoskeletal pain; headache or neuropathic pain reported with a score greater than 4, ranging from 1 to 10, according to the numerical pain scale; using analgesic or anti-inflammatory medication

Pacientes de ambos os gêneros; com idade maior que 18 anos; apresentar diagnóstico de qualquer tipo de câncer em qualquer estágio; estar sob os cuidados da equipe do hospital; ter dor crônica musculoesquelética; dor de cabeça ou dor neuropática relatada com escore maior que 4, variando de 1 a 10, de acordo com a escala numérica de dor; estar usando medicação análgésica ou anti-inflamatória

Having any metal implant in the head; having a history of epilepsy or seizures; having any electrical implant in the body; being pregnant; showing any sign of severity of the disease or exacerbation of the condition such as hemodynamic changes, stroke or infection

Primary outcomes:

The primary outcome of the study will be pain as assessed by a visual numeric scale. Subjects will be asked to choose a number on the scale that best represents the intensity of their pain at that moment. The McGill scale is characterized by being multidimensional and has been used to measure and characterize the painful experience, including the sensory and affective nature of pain
