  This is a three-arm, double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial. A total of 70 people who meet the eligibility criteria will be randomly allocated on the day of the surgical procedure to the test, control or placebo group. Both the researchers who will evaluate the outcomes and the participants will not know which group each participant belongs to. Experimental group: 23 participants, of both genders, aged 9 to 25 years who will undergo alveolar bone graft surgery associated with transdermal systemic photobiomodulation – TherapyEC, 660 nm ± 10 nm, useful power of 100 mW ± 20 %, 10 minutes for patients aged 9 to 17 years and 15 minutes for patients aged 18 to 25 years); Control group (n=24) (alveolar bone graft surgery); Placebo group (n=23) (alveolar bone graft + simulated application of transdermal systemic photobiomodulation therapy, with the device emitting sound signals, but without delivering light)

  Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado controlado de três braços, duplo-cego. Um total de 70 pessoas que preencham os critérios de elegibilidade será alocado por meio de sorteio no dia do procedimento cirúrgico ao grupo teste, controle ou placebo. Tanto os pesquisadores que irão avaliar os desfechos como os participantes não terão conhecimento a que grupo pertence cada participante. Grupo experimental: 23 participantes, de ambos os sexos, de 9 a 25 anos de idade que realizarão cirurgia de enxerto ósseo alveolar associada a fotobiomodulação sistêmica transdérmica – TherapyEC, 660 nm ± 10 nm, potência útil de 100 mW ± 20 %, 10 minutos para pacientes de 9 a 17 amos e 15 minutos para pacientes de 18 a 25 anos); Grupo controle (n=24) (cirurgia de enxerto ósseo alveolar); Grupo placebo (n=23) (enxerto ósseo alveolar+ aplicação simulada da terapia de fotobiomodulação sistêmica transdérmica, com o aparelho emitindo os sinais sonoros, porém sem entrega da luz)

  Do not accept participation in the research and/or withdraw from any of its stages; positive test for SARS-cov 2; Modifications in the surgical plan at the time of surgery; presence of a beard or mustache at the time of image acquisition, in order not to compromise the analysis of facial temperature; black patients due to the presence of a greater amount of melanin on the surface of the skin, since the red laser is absorbed by this chromophore and may cause burns with the dose used and standardized for research participants; patients with systemic compromise and not suitable for surgery

  To evaluate the effect of transdermal systemic photobiomodulation on pain in the immediate postoperative period using a visual analogue scale and over the course of one week postoperatively through WhatsApp messages in which patients will assign scores from 0 to 3 (0- no pain; 1- slight pain; 2- considerable pain; 3 the pain could not be worse) for pain at the time they are asked. It is expected that laser therapy will bring about a reduction in pain perception at different analysis times, both 24 hours after surgery and throughout the week. To this end, we will adopt a significance level of 5%.

  Avaliar o efeito da fotobiomodualçaõ sistêmica transdérmica sobre dor no pós-operatório imediato por meio de escala visual analógica e no decorrer de uma semana de pós- operatório por meio de mensagens de WhatsApp nas quais os pacientes irão atribuir scores de 0 a 3 (0- sem dor; 1- dor leve; 2- dor considerável; 3 a dor não poderia ser pior) para a dor no momento em que são questionados . Espera-se que a terapia com laser traga uma diminuição na percepção da dor nos diferentes tempos de análise, tanto em 24 horas após a cirurgia, como no decorrer da semana. Para tal, iremos adotar o nível de significância de 5%.

  To evaluate the effect of transdermal systemic photobiomodulation on facial edema. Edema will be measured based on measurements obtained from the patient's face pre- and post-operatively, using a measuring tape, generating an edema coefficient for each patient. During the weekly assessment, the analysis of the perception of reduction in edema will be carried out via Whatsapp messages, assigning scores from 0 to 3 (0 with no perception of reduction, 1 with a slight decrease; 2 with a moderate decrease and 3 with a considerable decrease in swelling). A significant decrease in edema is expected for the Test group at both times, 24 hours postoperatively and in the weekly analysis. To this end, we will adopt a significance level of 5%.

  Avaliar o efeito da fotobiomodulação sistêmica transdérmica sobre o edema facial. O edema será mensurado a partir das medidas obtidas da face do paciente no pré e pós-operatório, por meio de fita métrica gerando um coeficiente de edema para cada paciente. Durante a avaliação semanal a análise de percepção de diminuição do edema será realizada via mensagens de Whatsapp atribuindo scores de 0 a 3 (0 sem percepção de dimunuição, 1 leve diminuição; 2 diminuição moderada e 3 diminuição considerável do inchaço). Espera-se uma diminuição significativa do edema para o grupo Teste em ambos os tempos, 24 horas pós-operatórias e na análise semanal. Para tal, iremos adotar o nível de significância de 5%.

  To evaluate the effect of transdermal systemic photobiomodulation on facial temperature. Facial temperature will be analyzed using infrared thermography. A higher facial temperature is expected in the groups that received the application of systemic photobiomodulation as it favors blood circulation. To this end, we will adopt a significance level of 5%.

Espera-se uma maior temperatura facial nos grupos que receberam a aplicação da fotobiomodulação sistêmica pelo fato desta favorecer a circulação sanguínea. Para tal, iremos adotar o nível de significância de 5%.

  Evaluate the correlation between pain, edema and facial temperature. It is expected to find a positive positive correlation between the variables regardless of the treatment applied.
