  A controlled, randomized double-blind,, split-mouth clinical study lasting 12 months. The study followed the guidelines of the Helsinki declaration on human experimentation. 20 patients with bilateral single gingival recessions greater than or equal to 3mm received the control group on one side of the maxilla/mandible and the experimental group on the other. Experimental group: A partial-thickness flap was prepared and extended to the teeth adjacent to the gingival recession; porcine acellular dermal matrix was cut to the shape and size to cover the exposed root surface and the adjacent tissue, after which it was sutured with a resorbable thread 1 mm apical to the cemento-enamel junction. The flap was sutured 1 mm coronal to the cemento-enamel junction. Control group: A partial-thickness flap was prepared and extended to the teeth adjacent to the gingival recession; the subepithelial connective tissue graft was removed from the palate and cut into the shape and size to cover the exposed root surface and the adjacent tissue, after which it was sutured with a resorbable thread 1 mm apical to the cemento-enamel junction. The flap was sutured 1 mm coronal to the cemento-enamel junction. The randomization process was carried out using a random permutation generated by a computer (www.randomization.com)

O estudo seguiu as diretrizes da declaração de Helsinki sobre os experimentos em seres humanos. 20 pacientes com recessões gengivais unitárias bilaterais maior ou igual a 3mm receberam de um lado da maxila/mandíbula o grupo controle e do outro lado o grupo experimental. Grupo experimental: Um retalho de espessura parcial e estendido aos dentes adjacentes à recessão gengival foi preparado; a matriz dérmica acelular porcina foi recortada no formato e no tamanho para recobrir a superfície radicular exposta e o tecido adjacente, logo após, foi suturado com fio reabsorvível a 1 mm apical à junção cemento-esmalte. O retalho foi suturado 1 mm coronal junto a cemento-esmalte. Grupo controle: Um retalho de espessura parcial e estendido aos dentes adjacentes à recessão gengival foi preparado; o enxerto de tecido conjuntivo subepitelial foi removido do palato e recortado no formato e no tamanho para cobrir a superfície radicular exposta e o tecido adjacente, logo após, foi suturado com fio reabsorvível a 1 mm apical à junção cemento-esmalte. O retalho foi suturado 1 mm coronal junto a junção cemento-esmalte. O processo de randomização foi realizado por meio de uma permutação aleatória gerada por um computador (www.randomization.com)
