    A randomized, controlled, double-blind, longitudinal clinical trial. In the first stage, 84 participants will be selected and divided into three groups of 28 each, where one will have as an intervention the use of Alpinia zerumbet gel-cream and the use of ultrasound, another will have as an intervention the use of gel-cream without the active ingredient Alpinia zerumbet and the use of ultrasound, the third group will have as intervention a diclofenac diethylammonium gel-cream 11.6 mg/g and the use of ultrasound. During the 4-week period, they will be seen once a week to apply the gel associated with the use of ultrasound. In the second stage, a total of 80 patients will be divided into two groups, one for the use of Alpinia zerumbet gel and the other a gel without active ingredients, for use in daily exercises. In both stages, pain control, chewing performance, bite force, electromyographic activity, quality of life and adverse effects will be selected.

Serão selecionados na primeira etapa 84 participantes e dividida em três grupos de 28 cada, onde um terá como intervenção o uso do gel-creme de Alpinia zerumbet e uso do ultrassom, outro terá como intervenção o uso do gel-creme sem princípio ativo Alpinia zerumbet e o uso do ultrassom, o terceiro grupo terá como intervenção um gel-creme de diclofenaco dietilamônio 11,6 mg/g e o uso do ultrassom. Durante o período de 4 semanas, os mesmos serão atendidos uma vez na semana para aplicação do gel associado ao uso do ultrassom. Na segunda etapa, um total de 80 pacientes serão divididos em dois grupos, um para o uso do gel de Alpinia zerumbet e o outro um gel sem princípio ativo, para uso em exercícios diários. Em ambas as etapas serão verificados o controle da dor, performance da mastigação, força de mordida, atividade eletromiográfica,qualidade de vida e efeitos adversos.
