  This is a comparative clinical study in split mouth with three arms, one experimental group (inverted connective tissue graft) of 9 volunteers (18 to 60 years) and two control groups (conventional free gingival graft and connective tissue free gingival graft) of 9 volunteers, the division will occur in a randomized manner using Excel (Microsoft™). The randomization was done using the "RAND(0)" function, which generates randomized numbers for the alocation of the patients beetween groups. The evaluation period is 6 months.

  Trata-se de um estudo clínico comparativo em boca dividida com três braços, sendo um grupo experimental (enxerto de tecido conjuntivo invertido) de 9 voluntários (18 a 60 anos) e dois grupos controles (enxerto gengival livre convencional e enxerto gengival livre de tecido conjuntivo) de 9 voluntários, a divisão ocorrerá de forma aleatorizada pelo Excel (Microsoft™). A randomização foi feita por meio da função "RAND(0), o qual gera números aleatórios para alocação dos pacientes entre os grupos. O período de avaliação é de 6 meses.

  Healthy patients; both genders; non-smokers; 18 and 60 years old; absence of periodontal disease in the teeth of interest of the research; with indication of increase of the band of keratinized mucosa bilaterally in the region of at least 3 mandibular premolars.

• Exclusion criteria:

  Patients with systemic problems that contraindicate oral surgeries; pregnant women; who were taking or had taken controlled medications and antibiotics in the last 6 months preceding the survey, presence of periodontal disease in the areas of interest of the survey; cognitive impairment; users of illicit drugs or alcohol and smokers; former users of illicit drugs, former smokers and former alcoholics could only be included in the study if they had fully quit their addiction at least 6 months before the start of the survey.

  Pacientes com problemas sistêmicos que contraindiquem cirurgias bucais; gestantes; que faziam ou fizeram uso de medicamentos controlados e antibióticos nos últimos 6 meses precedentes à pesquisa, presença doença periodontal nas áreas de interesse da pesquisa; dificuldade cognitiva; usuários de drogas ilícitas ou álcool e fumantes; ex-usuários de drogas ilícitas, ex-fumantes e ex-etilistas só poderiam ser incluídos no estudo se tivessem deixado plenamente o vício pelo menos 6 meses antes do início da pesquisa.

  Expected outcome 1: It is expected to find aesthetically superior results in sites submitted to connective tissue grafts and inverted free gingival graft compared to sites submitted to conventional connective tissue grafts, and the results will be verified by three experienced periodontists, by the lay opinion of the patients (considering which condition seems more pleasing to them) and also by objective analysis through ImageJ software, comparing with the adjacent vestibular keratinized mucosa.

  Desfecho esperado 1: Espera-se encontrar resultados esteticamente superiores nos sítios submetidos a enxertos de tecido conjuntivo e enxerto gengival livre invertido em relação aos sítios submetidos a enxertos de tecido conjuntivo convencionais, sendo que os resultados serão verificados por três periodontistas experientes, pela opinião leiga dos pacientes (considerando qual a condição que lhes parece mais agradável) e também por análise objetiva através do software ImageJ, comparando com a mucosa ceratinizada vestibular adjacente.

  Expected outcome 2: It is expected to find larger dimensions in the group submitted to conventional free gingival grafts and the results will be evaluated after suturing the grafts (“baseline”), which will be recorded measurements from an “occlusal stent” (measurements A and B), with the aid of a periodontal probe and an endodontic “stop”.

  Desfecho esperado 2: Espera-se encontrar dimensões maiores no grupo submetido a enxertos gengivais livres convencionais e os resultados serão avaliados após a sutura dos enxertos (“baseline”), que serão registradas medidas a partir de um “stent oclusal” (medidas A e B), com auxílio de uma sonda periodontal e um “stop” endodôntico.

  Outcome found 2: Considering the dimensional analysis of the grafts, it was observed that the conventional and inverted connective tissue grafts contracted significantly in relation to the free gingival grafts, which did not show statistically significant contraction.
