This is a randomized, two-arm, triple-blind clinical trial. A total of 60 participants who meet the eligibility criteria will be allocated to one or the other intervention group using a random number table. Neither the participants nor the evaluators—the otolaryngologist, the speech therapist, and the dentist who will assess temporomandibular dysfunction—will know which group each individual belongs to. Similarly, the two professionals who will apply the laser therapy will not know the results of the initial and final assessments of the otological examinations and temporomandibular dysfunction until all treatments are completed. Experimental group: 30 people with tinnitus will receive low-power laser therapy with 6 Joules of infrared light energy in the ear canal, bilaterally. The same energy will be applied to three more points along the mastoid process (directed towards the external auditory meatus) and to three more angled points towards the tympanic membrane, totaling 7 minutes of local irradiation. In addition, systemic laser therapy (low-power laser irradiation via transcutaneous injection into the radial artery) will be performed, lasting 30 minutes per session. The frequency of treatments will be twice a week for five weeks. Control group: 30 people with tinnitus will receive a simulation of the aforementioned therapy (both local and systemic), with the same frequency of sessions. The equipment will remain on, but without emitting light radiation, perfectly mimicking the treatment

Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado, de dois braços e triplo-cego. Um total de 60 participantes que preencherem os critérios de elegibilidade será alocado em um ou outro grupo de intervenção por meio de uma tabela de números aleatórios. Tanto os participantes quanto os avaliadores — o otorrinolaringologista, a fonoaudióloga e o dentista que avaliará a disfunção temporomandibular — não terão conhecimento sobre a qual grupo pertence cada indivíduo. Da mesma forma, as duas profissionais que aplicarão a laserterapia não saberão os resultados das avaliações iniciais e finais dos exames otológicos e da disfunção temporomandibular até que todos os atendimentos sejam concluídos. Grupo experimental: 30 pessoas com tinnitus (zumbido) receberão laserterapia de baixa potência com energia de 6 Joules de luz infravermelha no conduto auditivo, bilateralmente. A mesma energia será aplicada em mais três pontos ao longo do processo mastoide (direcionada para o meato acústico externo) e em mais três pontos angulados em direção à membrana timpânica, totalizando 7 minutos de irradiação local. Além disso, será realizada a laserterapia sistêmica (irradiação a laser de baixa potência por via transcutânea na artéria radial ) com duração de 30 minutos por sessão. A frequência dos atendimentos será de duas vezes por semana, ao longo de cinco semanas.Grupo controle: 30 pessoas com tinnitus (zumbido) receberão a simulação da terapia supracitada (tanto local quanto sistêmica), com a mesma frequência de sessões. O equipamento permanecerá ligado, porém sem emitir radiação luminosa, mimetizando perfeitamente o tratamento

Inclusion criteria:

Volunteers of both genders; aged between 18 and 70 years; clinical diagnosis of persistent tinnitus lasting more than 3 months; with mild to moderate hearing loss; ability to understand and sign the Informed Consent Form

Exclusion criteria:

Volunteers with other hearing impairments such as Meniere's disease or neoplasms; those who have undergone any prior treatment for tinnitus in the last 3 months, including laser therapies; those using ototoxic medications or medications that may interfere with tinnitus perception, such as antidepressants; pregnant or breastfeeding women

It is expected that the impact of tinnitus on quality of life will be reduced, as assessed by the total score on the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) questionnaire, by comparing pre-intervention (baseline) and one week post-intervention
