  Extraction of a tooth compromised by caries, fracture or periodontal disease. Two groups with a total of 20 participants, randomly divided, being a control group, with 10 individuals, performing the extraction of the compromised teeth (total of 11 teeth) and providing spontaneous healing only by the presence of the clot, receiving a mucous plug sutured over the and the other group called the test, with 10 individuals, who, after extraction of the compromised teeth, received the bone protein of the human recombinant type 2 bone-forming agent at a concentration of 1.5mg / ml, associated with a sponge of bovine collagen type 1, to fill the alveolus, receiving mucous plug sutured on the spot, to protect the grafted material (total of 14 teeth). All patients underwent an initial tomography scan two days after the extractions and a final CT scan after four months in order to assess the final bone volume after the extractions during this follow-up period, comparing the performance of the 2 groups regarding the maintenance capacity of the alveolar bone, before the installation of the dental implants, that will replace the extracted teeth.

  Extração de dente comprometido por cárie , fratura ou doença periodontal. Dois grupos com total de 20 participantes, divididos aleatoriamente, sendo um grupo controle, com 10 indivíduos, realizando a extração dos dentes comprometidos(total de 11 dentes) e proporcionando a cicatrização espontânea apenas pela presença do coágulo, recebendo um tampão mucoso suturado sobre o local para proteção do mesmo e o outro grupo denominado teste, com 10 indivíduos, que após realizada a extração dos dentes comprometidos, recebeu a proteína óssea da recombinante humana tipo 2 formadora de osso na concentração de 1,5mg/ml, associada a esponja de colágeno bovino tipo 1, para preencher o alvéolo, recebendo tampão mucoso suturado sobre o local, para proteção do material enxertado( total de 14 dentes) . Todos os pacientes fizeram tomografia inicial, dois dias após as extrações, e uma tomografia final após quatro meses, a fim de avaliar o volume ósseo final após as extrações, durante esse período de acompanhamento, comparando a performance dos 2 grupos quanto a capacidade de manutenção do osso alveolar, antes da instalação dos implantes dentários, que irão substituir os dentes extraídos.

  Individuals who sought the specialization clinic in Implant Dentistry of the University of Guarulhos and had indication of previous exodontia to the installation of implants osseointegráveis, with more than 20 years; good general health, requiring extraction of a maximum of 2 contiguous teeth in the maxilla, the teeth being condemned for periodontal reasons, root fracture, caries and unsuccessful endodontic treatment.

  Indivíduos que procuraram a clínica de especialização em Implantodontia da Universidade Guarulhos e que possuíam indicação de exodontia prévia à instalação de implantes osseointegráveis, com mais de 20 anos; boa saúde geral ;que necessitavam de exodontia de no máximo 2 dentes contíguos em maxila, estando os dentes condenados por razões periodontais, fratura radicular, cárie e tratamento endodôntico sem sucesso.

  To evaluate the effect of socket preservation after extraction using human recombinant bone morphogenetic protein type 2 (rhBMP2) to fill the human dental socket using computed tomography two days after extraction (T0) and after four months (T1 ). For the evaluation of the preservation of the sockets, using the tomographic images, the following dimensions were obtained: height of the buccal wall (Height V), determined in mm; height of the palatal wall (Height P), determined in mm and socket area, determined in mm2, obtained through the profile of the socket (edge), being delineated using the cursor and through a software tool. The data of height of the buccal wall, height of the palatine wall and area of the socket ridges, in the different periods of the study, and intergroup, within the same experimental period, were evaluated. In addition, the intragroup variation in the time intervals (T1 - T0), for the three variables studied, expressing the relation of reduction in height of the buccal and palatal bone wall and area.

  Avaliar o efeito da preservação alveolar após exodontia utilizando-se a recombinante humana da proteína óssea morfogenética tipo 2 (rhBMP2) para preenchimento do alvéolo dentário em humanos utilizando-se tomografia computadorizada dois dias após a extracão(T0) e depois de quatro meses(T1).Para a avaliação da preservação do alvéolo, utilizando as imagens tomográficas, as seguintes dimensões foram obtidas: altura da parede vestibular (Altura V), determinada em mm; altura da parede palatina (Altura P), determinada em mm e área alveolar, determinada em mm2, obtida por meio do perfil do processo alveolar (rebordo), sendo delineado com o uso do cursor e através de uma ferramenta do software. Foram avaliados os dados de altura da parede vestibular, altura da parede palatina e área dos rebordos alveolares intragrupo,nos diferentes períodos do estudo, e intergrupo, dentro mesmo período experimental.Além disso, foi avaliado a variação intragrupo nos intervalos de tempo (T1 - T0),para as três variáveis estudadas, expressando a relação de redução em altura da parede óssea vestibular e palatina e área

  Regarding height of the vestibular wall, the control group had an initial mean T0 of 7.64 mm + - 2.09 mm and after four months a mean T1 of 4.26 mm + - 1.68 mm demonstrating loss in height with significant statistical difference. The test group presented a mean initial height T0 of the buccal wall of 7.54 mm + - 4.16 mm and after four months T1 6.93 mm + - 4.06 mm, showing no statistically significant difference. When comparing both groups within the same time interval, no statistically significant difference of the initial means T0 was observed. However at the T1 moment, after four months, a statistically significant difference could be observed with a mean of 4.26mm + - 1.68mm and 6.93mm + - 4.06mm for the control and test groups respectively. Regarding the height of the palatine wall, the test group also had a superior behavior, since the test group did not present a statistically significant difference between the T0 and T1 times, while the control group presented a significant reduction of T0 (8.04 mm + - 2.92mm) in relation to T1 (5.70mm + - 2.33mm). When comparing both groups in the question of height of the palatine wall, within the same time interval, the difference of the initial means at T0 was not statistically significant, but at time T1, the test group (8,13mm + - 2,85mm) presented higher values when compared to the control group (5.70 mm + - 2.33 mm). There was also a superiority of the test group in maintaining the mean area of the alveolar ridge in relation to the control group, because this group presented a loss of approximately 39% between moments T0 and T1, while in the test group this reduction of the area of the alveolar ridge was 15%.

  No quesito altura da parede vestibular, o grupo controle apresentou média inicial T0 de 7,64mm +- 2,09mm e após quatro meses T1 média de 4,26mm +- 1,68mm demonstrando perda em altura com diferença estatística significante. O grupo teste apresentou uma altura média inicial T0 da parede vestibular de 7,54mm +- 4,16mm e após quatro meses T1 6,93mm +- 4,06mm, não apresentando diferença estatística significante. Quando comparados ambos os grupos dentro do mesmo intervalo de tempo, não foi observado diferença estatisticamente significante das médias iniciais T0. Entretanto no momento T1, após quatro meses, pode-se observar diferença estatisticamente significante com médias de 4,26mm +- 1,68mm e 6,93mm +- 4,06mm para os grupos controle e teste respectivamente. Com relação a altura da parede palatina, o grupo teste também teve um comportamento superior, uma vez que o grupo teste não apresentou diferença estatisticamente significante entre os tempos T0 e T1, enquanto o grupo controle apresentou uma redução significativa de T0 (8,04mm +- 2,92mm) em relação a T1 (5,70mm +- 2,33mm). Quando comparado ambos os grupos no quesito de altura da parede palatina, dentro do mesmo intervalo de tempo, a diferença das médias iniciais em T0 não foi estatisticamente significante, porém no momento T1, o grupo teste (8,13mm +- 2,85mm) apresentou valores superiores quando comparado ao grupo controle (5,70mm +- 2,33mm). Houve ainda uma superioridade do grupo teste na manutenção da área média do rebordo alveolar em relação ao grupo controle, uma vez que esse grupo apresentou uma perda de aproximadamente 39% entre os momentos T0 e T1, enquanto no grupo teste essa redução da área do rebordo foi de 15%.
