Interventions

  Intervention Group (IG)- Six adolescents, aged between 14 and 19 years, received the standard consultation at the Health Unit and the application of the Brief Motivational Interviewing (BMI) through two telephone contacts, interspersed in a period of three to seven months, between them. During recruitment, they and their legal guardians, when applicable for those under 18 years of age, received and signed the printed material with information for following up on the study or withdrawing from it; completed the form with sociodemographic and clinical data; and answered the Diabetes Empowerment Scale- Short Form (DES-SF). After the second telephone contact, they were asked to complete the DES-SF again to compare self-efficacy between adolescents with DM1 and those who received the educational intervention. Control Group (CG) – Eight adolescents, aged 14 to 19 years, received the standard consultation at the Health Unit. During recruitment, they and their guardians, when applicable for those under 18, signed the Informed Consent Form (ICF); completed the form with sociodemographic and clinical data; and responded to the DES-SF. Five to nine months after recruitment, they completed the DES-SF again. The random allocation of the participants to the two groups (IG and GC) was proportional (1:1) and was used through the LibreOffice program, in two moments. The sample allocated to each group was proportionally adjusted at randomization, considering three variables that tend to influence the research results, such as: gender, age and time since diagnosis for DM1. Thus, each recruited group contained these variables in the same proportion. For the study, single-blind blinding was used, as the participants were not aware of the existence of an intervention and/or control group.

  Grupo Intervenção (GI) - Seis adolescentes, com idade entre 14 a 19 anos, receberam a consulta padrão da Unidade de Saúde e aplicação da Entrevista Motivacional Breve (EMB) através de dois contatos telefônicos, intercalados no período de três a sete meses, entre eles. Durante o recrutamento, estes e seus responsáveis, quando foi o caso para aqueles menores de 18 anos, receberam e assinaram o material impresso com informações para seguimento no estudo ou desistência deste; preencheram o formulário com dados sociodemográficos e clínicos; e responderam à Escala de Autoeficácia para Diabetes – Versão Curta (EAD- VC). Após o segundo contato telefônico, foi solicitado o preenchimento da EAD-VC novamente para comparação da autoeficácia entre adolescentes com DM1 e que receberam a intervenção educativa. Grupo Controle (GC) – Oito adolescentes, com idade entre 14 a 19 anos, receberam a consulta padrão da Unidade de Saúde. Durante o recrutamento, estes e seus responsáveis, quando foi o caso para aqueles menores de 18 anos, assinaram o TCLE e/ou TALE; preencheram o formulário com dados sociodemográficos e clínicos; e responderam à EAD- VC. Cinco a nove meses após o recrutamento, estes preencheram novamente a EAD-VC. A alocação randômica dos participantes dois grupos (GI e GC) foi proporcional (1:1) e empregou-se por meio do programa LibreOffice, em dois momentos. A amostra alocada em cada grupo ocorreu proporcionalmente ajustada na randomização, considerando três variáveis que tendem influenciar os resultados da pesquisa, como: sexo, idade e tempo de diagnóstico para DM1. Destarte, cada grupo recrutado conteve com essas variáveis na mesma proporção. Para o estudo foi empregado cegamento do tipo unicego, pois os participantes não tomaram conhecimento sobre a existência de grupo intervenção e/ou controle.

  The expected outcome will be an increase in the self-efficacy of adolescents with type 1 diabetes who received the educational intervention. Verified by the Diabetes Self-Efficacy Scale. The groups will be compared in two moments: during recruitment; and in the period of up to two months after the last intervention. And, in the Control group, in the period of five to nine months after recruitment. For these comparisons, Fisher's exact test will be used to ascertain the homogeneity of the groups due to the sample size, the chi-square and Pearson tests (categorical variables) and the Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test.

  O desfecho esperado será aumentar da autoeficácia dos adolescentes com diabetes tipo 1 que receberam a intervenção educativa. Verificado pela Escala de Autoeficácia para Diabetes. Os grupos serão comparados em dois momentos: durante o recrutamento; e no período de até dois meses após a realização da última intervenção. E, no grupo Controle, no período de cinco a nove meses após o recrutamento. Para essas comparações, serão utilizados o teste Exato de Fisher para averiguar a homogeneidade dos grupos por conta do tamanho da amostra, os testes qui-quadrado e Pearson (variáveis categóricas) e Teste de Kruskal-Wallis e Teste U de Mann-Whitney.

  To verify the association between the self-efficacy scores of adolescents with DM1 and their sociodemographic variables. The variables will be analyzed descriptively and inferentially, considering simple frequency, percentage, mean, median and standard deviation. In the descriptive analysis, the sociodemographic and clinical characterization of the participants will be used, in addition to the description of the aspects associated with the self-efficacy of adolescents with DM1.

  Verificar a associação entre os escores de autoeficácia do adolescente com DM1 e suas variáveis sociodemográficas. As variáveis serão analisadas de modo descritivo e inferencial, considerando frequência simples, percentual, média, mediana e desvio padrão. Na análise descritiva será utilizada a caracterização sociodemográfica e clínica dos participantes, além da descrição dos aspectos associados à autoeficácia do adolescente com DM1.
