This is a randomized, crossover and blind clinical trial. Twenty patients will be selected, and the analgesic effect of photobiomodulation on the masseter and temporal muscles of patients diagnosed with bilateral myalgia will be assessed. On one side of the face, the participant receives photobiomodulation with the aid of an LED blanket (Sportllux Ultra Cosmedical® - Brazil) (treated group), and on the other side of the face, a blanket of the same appearance but without active LEDs and, consequently, without phototherapy (control group) is applied. The application lasted 10 minutes on the temporal muscle and 10 minutes on the masseter muscle, and the equipment with active LEDs simultaneously emitted light in the red (660 nm) and infrared (850 nm) wavelengths. The blanket consists of 84 diodes with an energy of 3 joules per point and a total output of 108 joules. The power is 5 mW and the irradiance is 1.38 mW/cm2. Both blankets will be used in a randomized manner using Excel. Algometry allowed us to assess the pressure pain threshold in the masseter and temporal muscles on the right and left sides before and after photobiomodulation. The active tip of the algometer presses on the region marked during the clinical examination. Measurements are given in kPa (kilopascals). An Israeli algometer, algoMed, was used, which delivers the readings in software for future statistical analysis.

Trata-se de um ensaio clínico randomizado, cruzado e cego. Serão selecionados 20 pacientes, e se verificará o efeito analgésico da fotobiomodulação sobre os músculos masseter e temporal de pacientes diagnosticados com mialgia bilateral. Em um lado da face o participante recebe a aplicação da fotobiomodulação com o auxílio de uma manta de LEDs (Sportllux Ultra Cosmedical®- Brasil) (grupo tratado)e do outro lado da face recebe a aplicação de uma manta de mesma aparência porém sem LEDs ativos e consequentemente sem recurso de fototerapia (grupo controle). A aplicação durava 10 minutos no músculo temporal e 10 minutos no músculo masseter e o equipamento com LEDs ativos emitia simultaneamente a luz nos comprimentos de onda vermelho (660 nm)e infravermelho (850nm). A manta é composta por 84 diodos com energia de 3 joules por ponto e entrega total de 108 joules. A potência de 5mW e a irradiância de 1,38 mW/cm2. Ambas as mantas serão usadas de forma randomizada aleatoriamente pelo programa Excel. A algometria permitiu que avaliássemos o limiar de dor por pressão nos músculos masseter e temporal do lado direito e esquerdo antes e após a fotobiomodulação. A ponta ativa do algômetro pressiona a região demarcada no exame clínico. A mensuração é dada em KPa (quilopascal). Utilizou-se um Algometro israelita algoMed que entrega as leituras em forma de software para futura análise estatística.
