Interventions

  Patients who will apply the dressing and accept to participate in the study will undergo two cleanings, one with warm saline and the other with saline at room temperature, with an interval of 10 minutes between them. 32 patients will be included and will be allocated into two groups of 16 each, who will receive the same intervention in a different order. Group 1: heated cleaning solution (39°C) followed by ambient; Group 2: cleaning solution at room temperature, followed by cleaning with heated solution (39°C). The groups will be randomized by drawing lots with sealed envelopes in which the order of cleaning is established. Sociodemographic and wound-related characteristics, as well as pain and its related factors will be evaluated by structured interview. Pain intensity will be measured by the numerical pain scale before cleaning and after each cleaning. The temperature of the wound bed will be checked immediately before and after each cleaning with the solution at different temperatures. Comfort will be assessed by asking the patient which solution was more comfortable and preferred.

  Os pacientes que farão curativo e aceitarem participar do estudo serão submetidos a duas limpezas, uma com soro aquecido e outra com soro a temperatura ambiente, com intervalo de 10 minutos entre elas. Serão incluídos 32 pacientes que serão alocados em dois grupos, de 16 cada, que receberão a mesma intervenção em ordem diferente. Grupo 1: solução de limpeza aquecida (39°C) seguida da ambiente; Grupo 2: solução de limpeza à temperatura ambiente, seguida da limpeza com solução aquecida (39°C). Os grupos serão randomizados por sorteio com envelopes selados no qual estabelece a ordem da limpeza. As características sociodemográficas e referentes a ferida, bem como a dor e seus fatores relacionados serão avaliados por entrevista estruturada. A intensidade de dor será aferida pela escala numérica de dor antes da limpeza e após cada limpeza. A temperatura do leito da ferida será verificada imediatamente antes e após cada limpeza com a solução em diferentes temperaturas. O conforto será avaliado questionando o paciente, qual solução foi mais confortável e preferida.

  There was no statistically significant difference in the level of pain before cleaning and after using the solutions at different temperatures, as measured by the numerical pain scale (mean score - baseline: 1.91; score after cleaning with warmed saline 2.03; score after cleaning with warm saline solution 2.03; after cleaning 2.25 ambient serum with a P value greater than 0.05.

  During data collection for controls, it was noticed that the temperature of the wounds was influenced by the order of randomization of cleaning, while there was no influence on the temperature of the wound bed before and after cleaning with different temperatures (baseline: 35.5 °C versus after heated solution 35.7°C; p equals 0.155) and in group B (baseline: 35.5°C versus ambient solution 35.5°C; p equals 0.486)
