This is a randomized, single-blind, controlled clinical study in patients with borderline subtype emotionally unstable personality disorder and patients with self-mutilation without another psychiatric diagnosis. The study will be conducted exclusively with outpatients and will consist of a selection period, an evaluation consultation (with a baseline function in which the evaluation instruments will be applied) and an initial treatment period, in which 7 initial themes will be addressed (sadness, fear, anger, joy, disgust, guilt and shame), followed by a new evaluation with the same initial instruments. Then the second period will begin with 7 more themes (envy, guilt, prejudice, hatred, compassion, empathy, longing, mourning and sympathy). After the end of the second treatment period, a final evaluation will be made with the same chosen instruments. The patients will be randomly divided into two groups: the therapeutic group that will receive group therapy and medical monitoring and the control group that will receive medical monitoring. The patients will be randomly divided into two groups: the therapeutic group, which will receive group therapy and medical monitoring, and the control group, which will only receive outpatient medical monitoring with a psychiatrist, which may be weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on the patient's clinical condition, with or without prescribed medication. The same applies to both medical care and the therapeutic group. Total number of participants: 40, with 20 in the therapeutic group and 20 in the control group.
