    The Transcranial Direct current stimulation (tDCS) will be applied to children and adolescents included in these studies, respecting the random distribution of participants in one of the two groups studied (active stimulation or placebo). In the experimental group (active tDCS),with 12 participants in the first stage, the anode electrode will be positioned over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the cathode electrode will be positioned in the region of the deltoid muscle contralateral to the anode. The control group (tDCS placebo) with 11 participants in the first stage, will perform all electrode placement procedures, respecting the same positioning described in the experimental group, and the stimulator will be turned on for 30 seconds. In this way, the participants will experience the initial sensation, but without receiving the stimulation for the remaining time. The intervention protocol will consist of 10 days of anodic tDCS with a current of 1mA for 20 minutes each session.
As this is a crossed trial, there will be a period of 3 month between interventions (wash-out) in order to avoid a possible carry-over effect; that is, to avoid prolonging residual effects from the previous intervention. After the three-month interval, the group will be crossed, that is, whoever have received active stimulation in the first phase will now receive a placebo and vice versa.

    A Estimulação Transcraniana por Corrente Contínua (ETCC) será aplicada nas crianças e nos adolescentes incluídos neste estudos, respeitando a distribuição aleatória dos participantes em um dos dois grupos estudados (estimulação ativa ou placebo). No grupo experimental (ETCC ativa), com 12 participantes na primeira etapa, o elétrodo ânodo será posicionado sobre o córtex pré-frontal dorsolateral esquerdo e o elétrodo cátodo será posicionado na região do músculo deltoide contralateral ao ânodo. O grupo controle (ETCC placebo), com 11 participantes na primeira etapa, realizará todos os procedimentos de colocação dos elétrodos, respeitando o mesmo posicionamento descrito no grupo experimental, e o estimulador será ligado durante 30 segundos. Desta forma, os participantes irão vivenciar a sensação inicial, mas sem receber a estimulação no tempo restante. O protocolo de intervenção será composto por 10 dias de ETCC anódica com corrente de 1mA por 20 minutos cada sessão.
Por se tratar de um estudo cruzado, será respeitado um período de 3 meses entre as intervenções (wash-out), a fim de evitar um possível efeito carry-over, ou seja, para evitar o prolongamento de efeitos residuais da intervenção anterior. Após os três meses de intervalo o grupo será cruzado, isto é, quem recebeu a estimulação ativa na primeira fase agora receberá a placebo e vice-versa.

    Children and adolescent who have a diagnostic of Autism Spectrum Disorder according to DMS-5; age between 6 and 12 year; inserted on regular school environment; have degrees of understanding and collaboration compatible with carrying out the proposed activities; score more than 30 on the CARS scale.

                                                        Expected outcome 1: Outcome assessments will be carried out to investigate whether there has been a reduction in the severity of symptoms, decrease in maladaptive behaviors and improvement in Social Cognition. To this end, pre-intervention and post-intervention assessments will be performed. To asses behavior and adaptive functions scales Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS); Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC) and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) will be used, and for the assessment of Social Cognition NEPSY II – Subtest Social Cognition, will be used.

                                                        Desfecho esperado 1: As avaliações do desfecho serão realizadas com objetivo de investigar se houve redução na gravidade dos sintomas, diminuição de comportamentos mal adaptativos e melhora na Cognição Social. Para tal serão feitas avaliações pré-intervenção e pós-intervenção.                                                     Expected outcome 2: Understand if the effects of the intervention persist over time.
