Intervention 1: 30 women with urinary incontinence performed pelvic floor muscle training weekly, under the direct supervision of physiotherapist at the health center, and performed the same training daily at home, according to the muscular capacity of each patient; in addition, performed the bladder training according to the impairments identified in the voiding diary, from the second day of care in the health center. Intervention 2: 30 women with urinary incontinence performed the pelvic floor muscle training daily, only at home, according to the muscular capacity of each patient; in addition, performed the bladder training according to the deficiencies identified in the voiding diary, from the second day of care in the health center.Both groups were assessed at baseline, after 6 and 12 intervention sessions and 1 month after discharge from the program.

Intervenção 1: 30 mulheres com incontinência urinária realizaram treinamento dos músculos do assoalho pélvico semanalmente, sob supervisão direta de fisioterapeuta no centro de saúde, e realizaram o mesmo treinamento em domicílio diariamente, conforme capacidade muscular de cada paciente; além disso, realizaram o treinamento vesical conforme deficiências identificadas no diário miccional, a partir do segundo dia de atendimento no centro de saúde. Intervenção 2: 30 mulheres com incontinência urinária realizaram o treinamento dos músculos do assoalho pélvico somente em domicílio diariamente, conforme capacidade muscular de cada paciente; além disso, realizaram o treinamento vesical conforme deficiências identificadas no diário miccional, a partir do segundo dia de atendimento no centro de saúde. Ambos os grupos foram avaliados no baseline, após 6 e 12 sessões de intervenção e 1 mês após a alta do programa.

Women from the local community; aged 18 years; had never received physiotherapy intervention for pelvic floor dysfunction.

Women who could not contract their PFM; were pregnant; presented symptoms of urinary infection; neurological disorders and/or difficulty understanding the treatment protocols.
