Interventions

  There will be 12 weeks of intervention and two groups formed randomly: the group that will receive the herbal treatment and the placebo group. 20 participants will be allocated to the placebo group and 20 participants to the treatment group, totaling a sample of 40 women. The sample number was calculated based on previous protocols, using the G*Power 3.1 software, setting the alpha at 0.05 and the test power at 0.80. 400mg daily of the standardized extract of Dicrostachys glomerata will be provided in capsules for the control group; and capsules containing 300mg of starch for the placebo group, an inert constituent in drug formulations. In order for the capsules to look similar and hide the internal constituent, colored capsules (green and white) will be used. It will be recommended to take 1 capsule a day along with water, in the late afternoon.

  Ao todo serão 12 semanas de intervenção e dois grupos formados aleatoriamente: o grupo que receberá o tratamento fitoterápico e o grupo placebo. Serão alocadas 20 participantes no grupo placebo e 20 participantes no grupo de tratamento, totalizando uma amostra de 40 mulheres. O número amostral foi calculado baseado em protocolos anteriores, utilizando o software G*Power 3.1, estabelecendo o alfa em 0,05 e o poder do teste em 0,80. Serão fornecidos em cápsulas 400mg diários do extrato padronizado de Dicrostachys glomerata para o grupo controle; e cápsulas contendo 300mg de amido para o grupo placebo, constituinte inerte em formulações de medicamentos. Para que as capsulas fiquem parecidas e escondam o constituinte interno, serão utilizadas capsulas coloridas (verde e branca). Será recomendado a ingestão de 1 cápsula ao dia juntamente com água, no final da tarde.

  Participants who do not sign the Free Informed Consent form; women who have received hormone therapy in the last 6 months; surgery-induced menopause; with untreated hypothyroidism; presence of kidney or liver diseases; any type of cancer; and with inflammatory or infectious disease.
