Interventions

• Interventions:

  One hundred pairs of mothers and children (0 to 12 years of age) will be included in this study, after anamnesis and initial clinical examination. Then, for the evaluation of the intervention proposal, 2 groups will be constituted in parallel study. The allocation of each dyad (mother/child) to the groups will be randomized: - Group I (Control): 50 pairs of mother and child will receive clinical examination, prophylaxis, oral hygiene guidance and topical application of fluorides. - Group II (Experimental): 50 pairs of mother and child will receive clinical examination, prophylaxis, guidance on oral hygiene and topical application of fluorides. In addition, for 4 weeks, the digital platform (WhatsApp) will be used to send the chosen play activity, twice a week, with topics on oral hygiene, dental biofilm, white spot lesion and caries disease to the experimental group. After this 4-week period, the control and experimental groups will be evaluated through dental examinations to collect Visible Plaque Index (VPI), Gingival Bleeding Index (GBI) and numbers of decayed, missing and filled teeth. Control and experimental groups will be evaluated after 4 weeks, 3 months and 6 months.

  Serão incluídos nesse estudo 100 pares de mães e crianças (0 a 12 anos de idade), após realização de anamnese e exame clínico inicial. Em seguida, para a avaliação da proposta de intervenção, serão constituídos 2 grupos em estudo em paralelo. A alocação de cada díade (mãe/filho) aos grupos será randomizada: - Grupo I (Controle): 50 pares de mãe e filho receberão exame clínico, profilaxia, orientação de higiene bucal e aplicação tópica de fluoretos. - Grupo II (Experimental): 50 pares de mãe e filho receberão exame clínico, profilaxia, orientação de higiene bucal e aplicação tópica de fluoretos. Além disso, durante 4 semanas, a plataforma digital (WhatsApp) será utilizada para enviar a atividade lúdica escolhida, duas vezes por semana, com temas sobre higienização bucal, biofilme dentário, lesão de mancha branca e doença cárie para o grupo experimental. Após esse período de 4 semanas, os grupos controle e experimental serão avaliados através de exames odontológicos para coleta de Índice de Placa Visível(IPV),Índice de Sangramento Gengival (ISG) e números de dentes cariados, perdidos e obturados. Os grupos controle e experimental serão avaliados após 4 semanas, 3 meses e 6 meses.

Outcomes

• Primary outcomes:

  There will be a reduction in the visible plaque index, gingival bleeding index and the number of decayed, missing and filled teeth in the experimental group after receiving educational videos for the control of dental biofilm through the digital platform (WhatsApp). Data collected 2 weeks before the intervention and 4 weeks, 3 and 6 months after the intervention.

  Haverá uma redução do índice de placa visível, índice de sangramento gengival e o número de dentes cariados, perdidos e obturados do grupo experimental após o recebimento dos vídeos educacionais para o controle do biofilme dental através da plataforma digital(WhatsApp).
