  This is a two-arm, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, two-month, phase 1, non-inferiority clinical trial with a non-inferiority design to evaluate the safety of the herbal drug *A. polystachya* in increasing blood pressure. A total of 36 patients were evaluated, divided into the control group (n=17) and the placebo group (n=19). To eliminate bias between the groups (placebo and herbal), to ensure they are as homogeneous as possible, ideally differing only in the type of treatment, and to guarantee comparability between them, a randomization process was performed. Randomization was by random blocks of size 4 or 6, with a list generated by the service www.sealedenvelope.com and stored in the REDCap® system. To eliminate possible behavioral changes on the part of the investigator and the subject, a blinding process was performed.

  Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado controlado de dois braços, de alocação casual (randomizado), controlado por placebo e duplo-cego com duração de 2 meses, fase 1 com delineamento de não inferioridade para avaliar a segurança da droga vegetal de A. polystachya quanto a aumentos da pressão arterial. Foram avaliados 36 pacientes ao todo, sendo no grupo controle (n-=17) e no grupo placebo (n=19).Para dirimir vieses entre os grupos (placebo e fitoterápico), permitir que estes sejam o mais homogêneo possível, diferindo idealmente somente do tipo de tratamento e garantir a comparabilidade entre eles, será realizado o processo de randomização. A randomização foi por blocos de tamanho aleatório 4 ou 6, com lista gerada pelo serviço www.sealedenvelope.com e armazenada no sistema REDCap®. Para eliminar a possível mudança de comportamento por parte do investigador e por parte do investigado, foi realizado o processo de cegamento.

• Inclusion criteria:

  Men, non-pregnant women. Age greater than 18 years and less than or equal to 80 years. Diagnosis of hypertension (systolic blood pressure >= 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure >= 90 mmHg) and on at least monotherapy for this disease and with good blood pressure control in the last month (assessed by interview and initial blood pressure measurement)

Diagnóstico de HAS (PA sistólica >= 140 mmHg e/ou PA diastólica >= 90 mmHg) e em esquema de pelo menos monoterapia para esta enfermidade e com bom controle pressórico no último mês (avaliado por entrevista e medida inicial da PA)

  Pregnant or breastfeeding women. Individuals with secondary systemic arterial hypertension. Individuals with paroxysmal or permanent atrial fibrillation. Individuals using any other herbal medicine during the study. Individuals experiencing a serious adverse reaction to the medication such as anaphylaxis, severe hypotension, significant abnormalities in biochemical or hematological tests. Individuals with a BMI greater than or equal to 35. Individuals requesting to be withdrawn from the study

  Gestantes ou lactantes. Indivíduos que apresentam hipertensão arterial sistêmica secundária. Indivíduos que apresentam fibrilação atrial paroxística ou permanente. Indivíduos que fizerem uso de qualquer outro medicamento fitoterápico durante o estudo. Indivíduos que apresentarem reação adversa grave ao medicamento tais como anafilaxia, hipotensão grave, anormalidade significativa em exames bioquímicos ou hematológicos. Indivíduos com IMC maior ou igual a 35 . Indivíduos que solicitarem seu desligamento do estudo
