  The intervantion envolves: Through draw of sealed envelopes, the preterms infants will be allocated random in three groups. The first group, for the prone position of the prescription, the second one for the supine position and the third one won`t suffer any interference. The prescription of the intervantion will follow: -A) Orientation for the prone position (N 9), two hours during the morning and two hours in the afternoon. The infant must be in a nice and playful way. The night period will be free, however, the mother should take notice the position that the infant slept. -B) Orientation for the supine position (N10), two hours during the morning and two hours in the afternoon. The infant must be in a nice and playful way. The night period will be free, however, the mother should take notice the position that the infant slept. -C) Orientation of free position (N 11), is mother`s choice.

  A intervenção envolve: Através do sorteio com envelope lacrado os lactentes prematuros serão alocados de forma aleatória em três grupos. O primeiro grupo para a prescrição da posição prona, o segundo grupo para a posição de supina, e o terceiro grupo será o grupo que não sofrerá a intervenção. A intervenção seguirá a prescrição: - A: Orientação para a posição prona (N 9), duas horas no período da manhã e duas horas no período da tarde. O lactente deverá permanecer de forma agradável e lúdica. O período da noite será livre, no entanto a mãe deverá anotar a posição que a criança foi exposta ao dormir. - B: Orientação para a posição supina (N 10), duas horas no período da manhã e duas horas no período da tarde. O lactente deverá permanecer de forma agradável e lúdica.   Preterm infants; born with under 37 weeks of pregnancy; in the city of Franca, and the beginning of high risk ambulatory monitoring in Franca`s public health system.

• Exclusion criteria:

  The preterm infants (equal or > 37 weeks); infant that have attended only the private health system; infants that are already in process in high risk ambulatory in the public health system; and that ones that didn`t accepted the terms of participation.

  Expected outcome 1 Presentation of the expected outcome was that the motor function of preterm infants who received intervention of the body positioning was superior to the group without intervention. Prediction of the evaluation of the expected outcome is in the fourth evaluation, considered the last one. Motor development was observed by comparison with normative samples of the Alberta motor scale, considering normal / expected motor performance when it is above 25%.
