    All participants received care during the same period during the study. Conventional care was performed through consultations based on the demands presented by the participants, with guidance on care with stoma, peristomal skin, collecting device and changes in diet.
In order to verify the effectiveness of the telenursing intervention, two groups were formed: Control Group (CG) and Intervention Group (IG).
The CG contained 17 participants and received conventional care at the specialized center by the multidisciplinary service team, with frequency and duration depending on the demand presented by the individuals themselves. The IG was formed by 16 individuals and obtained conventional follow-up at the center (according to the CG) associated with complementary intervention via telephone, on the 20th, 40th and 60th days after the first contact.
The content of the phone calls lasted as long as necessary to address and clarify issues related to self-care, self-image, self-esteem, return to living in society, changes in sexual activity and the pattern of intestinal eliminations, domestic chores, work and leisure activities and the process adaptive.
The telephone contact also helped to clarify doubts that arose and could not be promptly clarified in the face of the impossibility of attending the reference institution.

    Todos os participantes receberam cuidados no mesmo período durante a execução do estudo. A assistência convencional foi realizada por consultas marcadas a partir das demandas apresentadas pelos participantes, com orientações sobre os cuidados com estoma, pele periestoma, dispositivo coletor e mudanças de alimentação. 
A fim de verificar a efetividade da intervenção de telenfermagem, foram formados dois grupos: Grupo Controle (GC) e Grupo Intervenção (GI). 
O GC continha 17 participantes e recebeu o atendimento convencional no centro especializado pela equipe multiprofissional do serviço com frequência e duração a depender da demanda apresentada pelos próprios indivíduos. O GI era formado por 16 indivíduos e obteve o acompanhamento convencional no centro (conforme GC) associado à intervenção complementar via telefone, no 20º, 40º e 60º dias após o primeiro contato.
O conteúdo das ligações telefônicas duravam o tempo necessário para abordagem e esclarecimento de questões relacionadas ao autocuidado, autoimagem, autoestima, retorno do convívio em sociedade, mudanças na atividade sexual e no padrão de eliminações intestinais, afazeres domésticos, atividades laborais e de lazer e processo adaptativo.
O contato telefônico auxiliava também no esclarecimento de dúvidas que surgiam e não podiam ser prontamente elucidadas diante da impossibilidade de comparecimento à instituição de referência.
