    This is a randomized, controlled, two-arm, double-blind clinical trial. Experimental group: 57 burn victims participants will receive 40 mg/kg of intravenous magnesium sulfate diluted in 0.9% sodium chloride solution with a total volume of 250 ml, 20 minutes before balneotherapy. Control group: 57 burn victims will receive a placebo, which will consist of the infusion of 250 ml of 0.9% Sodium Chloride. The infusion time of both solutions will be 20 minutes. The participant will be included in the study once. All participants will receive adequate sedation and analgesia to perform balneotherapy and change dressings, according to the routine of the service, which consists of the intravenous administration of: 2 mcg/kg of Fentanyl, 2.5 mg of Midazolam, 0.5 mg/kg of Ketamine and bolus of 0.5 mg/kg of Propofol. Pain rescue will be performed with a bolus of 0.05 mg/kg of intravenous morphine. Randomization will be simple, performed by a member of the research team through an electronic draw (https://www.random.org/). This member will not participate in the other stages of the study. The solution will be prepared by a trained nurse and delivered to an anesthesiologist who will blind o the patient's group assignment. This physician will only be responsible for administering the solution and monitoring the patient during the infusion and will not participate in sedation and participant assistance during balneotherapy and dressing change. Study data will be recorded by an observer who will also be blinded to the patient's group.

    Trata-se de um estudo clínico randomizado, controlado de dois braços, duplo cego. Grupo experimental: 57 participantes vítimas de queimaduras receberão 40 mg/kg de Sulfato de Magnésio intravenoso diluídos em solução de Cloreto de Sódio 0.9% com um volume total de 250 ml, 20 minutos antes da balneoterapia. Grupo controle: 57 pacientes vítimas de queimaduras receberão placebo, que consistirá na infusão de 250 ml de Cloreto de Sódio a 0.9%. O tempo de infusão de ambas as soluções será de 20 minutos. O participante será incluído no estudo uma vez. Todos os participantes receberão sedação e analgesia adequados para realizar a balneoterapia e a troca de curativos, conforme rotina do serviço, que consiste na administração intravenosa de : 2 mcg/kg de Fentanil, 2.5 mg de Midazolam, 0.5 mg/kg de Cetamina e bólus de 0.5 mg/kg de Propofol. O resgate da dor será realizado através de bólus de 0.05 mg/kg de Morfina intravenosa. A randomização será simples, realizada por um membro da equipe de pesquisadores através de sorteio eletrônico (https://www.random.org/). Este membro não participará das outras etapas do estudo. A solução será preparada por um enfermeira treinada e será entregue a um anestesiologista que desconhece o grupo em que o paciente foi alocado. Este médico será responsável apenas por administrar a solução e monitorizar o paciente durante a infusão e não participará da sedação e da assistência ao participante durante a balneoterapia e a troca de curativos.
