  The intervention was telephone follow-up for the elderly who underwent cholecystectomy surgery or herniorrhaphy compared to conventional follow-up. Experiment group - Access to telephone follow-up intervention and also to conventional follow-up, with 5 calls over the 4 week period, with calls made in the fourth (first call made for the initial contact), eighth (second call), twelfth (third call), eighteenth (fourth call) and twenty-fifth (fifth call) day after hospital discharge. followed up for the nursing diagnosis Delayed Surgical Recovery using the identification instrument in the outpatient clinic. Control group - This group was followed up for 4 weeks for the nursing diagnosis of Delayed Surgical Recovery on an outpatient basis, with conventional treatment without telephone follow-up.

  A intervenção foi o acompanhamento por telefone para idosos submetidos a cirurgia de colecistectomia ou herniorrafia comparado ao acompanhamento convencional. Grupo experimento – 22 pacientes tiveram acesso a intervenção do acompanhamento por telefone e também ao seguimento convencional, com 5 ligações no período das 4 semanas, sendo as ligações feitas no quarto (primeira ligação efetuada para o contato inicial), oitavo (segunda ligação), décimo segundo (terceira ligação), décimo oitavo (quarta ligação) e vigésimo quinto (quinta ligação) dia após a alta hospitalar. acompanhados para o diagnóstico de enfermagem Recuperação Cirúrgica Retardada por meio do instrumento de identificação no ambulatório. Grupo controle – 21 pacientes foram acompanhados no decorrer de 4 semanas para o diagnóstico de enfermagem Recuperação Cirúrgica Retardada em nível ambulatorial, com o tratamento convencional sem o acompanhamento por telefone.

  Elderly patients aged 60 years and over, coming from of the surgery service of the Hospital Universitário Antônio Pedro e Hospital Federal de Servidores do Estado in the preoperative period of hernia repair and laparoscopic cholecystectomy.   Telephone follow-up in post-operative care at home is a resource that can be extended to a large part of the population, with a high rate of adherence, in addition to bringing the team that performs surgeries and outpatient follow-up closer. There was no significant difference in relation to the Diagnosis of Delayed Surgical Recovery in the studied groups. However, in the experiment group, a lower incidence of causal factors and defining characteristics was observed, with a tendency for the p-value to fall. However, studies with a larger sample are necessary in order to be able to affirm that there is statistical superiority regarding the incidence of Delayed Surgical Recovery when compared to conventional treatment. This study demonstrates that post-operative follow-up by telephone, already common in developed countries, should be transposed to the Brazilian reality even within the scope of the Unified Health System, thanks to its low cost and high rate of adherence to treatment, as well as compatible with the complementary health model, that is, the developed protocol was considered broad enough for its generalization.

  O acompanhamento por telefone nos cuidados pós-operatório em domicílio é um recurso que se pode ser estendido a grande parte da população, com alta taxa de adesão, além de aproximar a equipe que realiza as cirurgias e as de acompanhamento ambulatorial. Não houve diferença significativa em relação ao Diagnóstico de Recuperação Cirúrgica Retardada nos grupos estudados. Porém no grupo experimento foi observada menor incidência dos fatores causais e características definidoras, com tendência de queda do p-valor. Porém, estudos com maior casuística são necessários para que se possa afirmar que há superioridade estatística quanto à incidência de RCR quando comparada ao tratamento convencional. Este estudo demonstra que o acompanhamento pós-operatório por telefone, já comum em países desenvolvidos, deveria ser transposto para a realidade brasileira mesmo no âmbito do Sistema Único de Saúde, graças ao seu baixo custo e alta taxa de adesão ao tratamento, como também se compatibiliza ao modelo de saúde complementar, ou seja, o protocolo desenvolvido foi considerado amplo o bastante para sua generalização.
