  A total of 634 patients who meet the criteria for participating in the study will be randomized by drawing lots in brown envelopes to two numerically equivalent groups. The first group will receive as an intervention the passage of a #16 transcervical Foley probe, after asepsis of the cervix, which will be insufflated with 60 ml of distilled water, remaining with the same until spontaneous expulsion or a period of 24 hours. The second group will receive exactly the same intervention, differing in its maximum maintenance time. Namely: 48 hours. At the end of the study, the normal delivery rate and the change in Bishop's score between the two interventions will be compared.

  Ao todo 634 pacientes que preencherem os critérios para participação no estudo serão randomizada por meio de sorteio em envelopes pardos para dois grupos numericamente equivalentes. O primeiro grupo receberá como intervenção a passagem de uma sonda de Foley nº 16 transcervical, após assepsia do colo do útero, que será insuflada com 60 ml de água destilada, permanecendo com a mesma até a expulsão espontânea ou o período de 24 horas. O segundo grupo receberá intervenção exatamente idêntica, diferindo no tempo máximo de manutenção desta. A saber: 48 horas. Ao final do estudo, a taxa de parto normal e a modificação no escore de Bishop entre as duas intervenções, serão comparadas.
