  Participants in this subproject will be randomly allocated into two groups, called the intervention group, formed by children who will receive the Buzzy® 60 seconds before Peripheral Intravenous Catheterization and the control group in which the device will be applied 30 seconds before this procedure. In both allocation groups Peripheral Intravenous Catheterization will be performed by applying the traditional method with palpation and visualization of the vessels. It is estimated that 400 children will participate. Being in the experimental group 200 children and in the control group 200 children, applied in the two subprojects together.

  Os participantes deste subprojeto serão alocados aleatoriamente em dois grupos, denominados, grupo intervenção, formado por crianças que receberão a Buzzy® 60 segundos antes da Cateterização Intravenosa Periférica e o grupo controle no qual o dispositivo será aplicado 30 segundos antes deste procedimento. Em ambos os grupos de alocação a Cateterização Intravenosa Periférica será realizada mediante aplicação do método tradicional com palpação e visualização dos vasos. Estima-se a participação de 400 crianças. Sendo no grupo experimental 200 crianças e no grupo controle 200 crianças, aplicados nos dois subprojetos juntamente.

  Age between 4 to 12 years incomplete; elective indication for peripheral intravenous catheterization with catheter over needle; peripheral intravenous catheterization performed regardless of shift; stable clinical or surgical conditions; first peripheral intravenous catheterization performed at the hospital

• Exclusion criteria:

  Being hospitalized in wards that require the use of some specific contact or respiratory precautionary measure; be in the preoperative period that requires peripheral intravenous catheterization immediately before being transferred to the operating room; have a medical request to collect a blood sample for laboratory tests during the peripheral intravenous catheterization; having a skin lesion near the catheter insertion site, which will prevent Buzzy from positioning; Having previous nerve damage in areas close to the region to be catheterized or any report of limited sensitivity in the extremity listed for insertion of the intravenous catheter; Have peripheral neuropathy; being diagnosed with a disease associated with hypersensitivity to cold such as Raynaud's Syndrome or sickle cell disease; having used topical, enteral or parenteral analgesics between four to eight hours before catheterization; presence of cognitive impairment or inability to verbally report pain

  Estar hospitalizada em enfermarias que necessitem da utilização de alguma medida de precaução específica de contato ou respiratória; estar em pré-operatório que necessite de cateterização intravenosa periférica imediatamente antes da transferência para o centro cirúrgico; ter solicitação médica de coleta de amostra sanguínea para exames laboratoriais durante a cateterização Intravenosa Periférica; Apresentar lesão na pele próxima ao local de inserção do cateter o que impedirá o posicionamento da Buzzy; Ter lesão nervosa anterior em áreas próximas à região a ser cateterizada ou qualquer relato de sensibilidade limitada na extremidade elencada para inserção do cateter intravenoso; ter neuropatia periférica; ser diagnosticado com alguma doença associada à hipersensibilidade ao frio como a Síndrome de Raynaud ou doença falciforme; ter utilizado analgésicos tópicos, entéricos ou parenterais entre quatro(80) a oito horas antes da cateterização; presença de comprometimento cognitivo ou incapacidade de relatar dor verbalmente
